I talked with Carolyn last evening. She was quite upbeat and said that she and her father are doing well. She is driving daily from Lafayette to Baton Rouge and back for work. Says as the water rises it should still remain about 12 inches (1 foot) under the Basin Bridge. Remembering the swamp tour that is a lot of water yet to come down in there. I'll find a pic of the bridge over the swamp and post it here after I take care of some other things.
So we know where we are.
Under the bridge on our way out to one of the areas.
Damage from the flood of 19xx - don't remember, but I think it was the 1927, perhaps Sharon or Diana will remember. But it was the railroad bridge!!!
More looks under the bridge to give you some idea of the proportions.
This is one of my favorites. Looks like a big open stadium hall way.
She said there is a glimmer of hope that Butte LaRose won't be drowned. The release of the water is spreading out and being soaked into the soil more than first anticipated. But only time will tell what the end result will be. She isn't thinking of replacement of things, if any, at this time.
She appreciates all the concerns of the forum Sistahs. She thanks everyone for their prayers and also asks that we continue to keep them all in our prayers.
