Well, I sure as heck don't want breast cancer, as that's what my mother died of. I suppose I should just let my face dry out and get older faster, rather than die of breast cancer. Sigh-----and just when I found something for my face that I love. I have never found anything else I like, or that works, or that I can afford.

Thanks for your input---I really do appreciate it although I am so disappointed to learn it!

What about plain old butter? Or what about lard? I also have something put out by Suave, years ago (one of those dusty tops in my cache!) called "Skin Silkening" Light sesame oil. If I can remember to use this long before it's time to leave in the morning, I can get it to sink in so I don't look soaking wet from a bath! Maybe I'll give that stuff another try! Anybody ever hear of this?

Hate to tell you this Soos but toss out the stuff if it's been there that long! For my dry skin this winter I found Jojoba oil stopped the itch immediately and did wonders for the dryness. It's an oil and a little goes a long way. Found it was good as a moisturizer for my make up as well as really helping the dry skin all over my body!
It is by Aura Cacia Organics if there is a health food store anywhere around they will probably have this or you can order it from Amazon for $10.32. Here's the link.

Soos, there are lots of natural ingredients that you can use on your face. Mayo is suppose to be very good for your skin as an exfolient and a moisturizer (gotta rinse it off tho). Also honey and egg yolk make a good mask. And yogurt is also good. You can mix that with honey too. I can get you specific recipes/instructions if you are interested!

I've used Oil of Olay for many, many years, well, since around the time I graduated high school in 1978. I remember some lady, doing a home make-up party thing tried to tell me that it was made of mink oil, I would grow a hairy face! So far so good... and anyway I could just shave and make me a mink coat.

Soos...try Dionne Udder Balm. http://www.originaludderbalm.com/udderbalm/ We use it all the time in the shop. The formaldehyde on fabric can really do a number on hands. Yes...it's made for cows udder...it's a yellow creamy looking pudding like stuff...and it's great. It's often sold in cosmetic areas in little 4 ounce tubes as body cream for about $4.00 a pop. I buy 4# jugs of it for my workers for about $20. Some of them were a little leery of it at first, but I told them to consider what cow's udders are exposed to all winter and also if it had any dangerous effects the FDA would not let it be used on a food source. It isn't greasy or sticky but does the job. They think it's great now and we go through about 20# a year. Okay...let the smart a$$ comments commence! :D

 I know they're big, but they're boobies, not udders!
(boy, you're getting as mean as You-Know-Who!)

An udder is an organ formed of the mammary glands of female quadruped mammals, especially ruminants such as cattle, goats, sheep and deer. The udder is a single mass hanging beneath the animal, consisting of pairs of mammary glands.

Udder Balm is sold right at the counter at the fabric store I use to frequent when living in Alaska. Allot of people, even men, use this up there.

I still have a can of udder balm at the leanto! I used to use this all the time when I was not working, but, at work, the smell of it seems to turn people off! (Has a very strong menthol-like odor) I guess I should just tell them to get lost, and hike down there and get it again! I could swear it has petroleum jelly in it, though? No? I shall go get it and check it out.

Think we might be talking about two different udder "butters" Soos! Is the one you're referring to more the consistency of vaseline and yellow in color? The one I posted for you is more like a thick lotion and has a very pleasant scent and it's greasy at all.

I can't remember the brand name of the Vaseliney one. It came in a square green can. Has anyone tried Corn Huskers Lotion for their hands. I used to use it all the time.

Where's this info about vaseline being bad for us? After I had surgery once, the doctors made me use vaseline on my face for a long, long time - had to keep it on day and night - what a pain. I forgot to wipe it off before going to get a haircut, and my stylist didn't want to say anything - then all those little hairs were falling and landing - needless to say the side with the vaseline made me look like I had sprouted LOTS of facial hair. Anyway, it was cheap and worked really well - and kept me from scarring, so I liked it. But it causes cancer? I don't use it often now, but still use it when my feet or hands get really bad - or my lips, for that matter. On my feet if they get really dry, I lather vaseline on them and then put socks on - amazing what a difference they are a few hours later. Now, if I could sleep in socks, I'd do that overnight, but I can't.

As to pedicures - have only had a couple professional ones - each time I got a wonderful foot massage - and if I could convince myself that the cost (it wasn't expensive, but I'm cheapo here on things like that for myself) I'd get one regularly. Oh, that was wonderful.

Ok, here is a link to more info regarding petroleum jelly and mineral oil for those of you who want to know more about it and it's effects. I am discovering that almost all beauty products have at least some mineral oil in them, so you would have to look hard for something that doesn't have it. Probably from a health food store or an organic skin care web site.
