Do an online search for wheat berry salads and substitute the steel oats for the wheat berries. I bet it's just as good! Here's the link for the recipe I use:

What's a wheatberry? I've never heard of it.

All the ingredients in the recipe are good...hmmmmm, non-breakfast oatmeal.
I think I have to give that a try! :)

I'm not totally sure about this but isn't the wheat berry the kernal of wheat before we start playing around with it smoching it up and grinding it up ect?

There's a mystery for ya...

This southerner loves both grits and oatmeal - assuming both are properly cooked. I normally like grits with just a bit of salt, pepper, and butter; oatmeal needs a little butter and sugar or some fresh fruit.
Have you had "shrimp and grits" ( a traditional southern breakfast in some of these parts)? I'll post a couple in the recipe section. Actually good for any time meal, not just breakfast.
