I also took Deann's Post as purely informational

40-some years ago, I was in a serious head-on collision where a lady turned left in front of me at 55 MPH. I ended up with a broken nose and some facial cuts, but my dog was in the front seat because this was a sports car. She ended up being a bloody mess, but turned out not to be hurt. (The blood was apparently mine, not hers.) I had been taking her to the vet a mile away because she had an infection and was nursing tiny pups.

I was taken to the hospital by ambulance. I was VERY grateful to a woman at the accident scene who offered to take her home with her. Instead I asked her to take her to the vet, which she did. They checked her out and later that night my parents picked her up and took her to my house and her pups and waited until I got released from emergency.

I think it was really unfeeling of the police to just leave a pet at the accident and let it run loose. I guess someday I owe it to someone to take their pet home with me in an emergency.

My dog absolutely refused to every ride in the front seat of a car from then on, so she must have hit the dash and at least been scared.

Judy, I totally agree.

Most of my stories you don't want to hear. I've spent years volunteering with humane societies and before leaving on the road done years on the board of directors of one. I could talk about the cat a child microwaved, thinking to dry it after washing. Or the city that said it was acceptable for a man to punch a dog as hard as he could in the snout, because his dog is his property.

The cat, while on deaths door, survived. By the time we got the dog, it had brain injuries.

I hope I wasn't misunderstood on this thread either. Words here aren't like discussions in real life and can be misunderstood. My hopes are that all or members understand there is no completely right or wrong in this situation today.
