I changed the quote in my signature this past week - it sure fits this thread!

It's a "sign." :D

My adult daughter is coming to visit tomorrow (she lives in Tempe...but I only get to see her once a week)...I'm going to talk to her about this. She knows how much I love RVing. She in fact wants to do it with me.

We had a family trip in July, 2011...just the 3 of us (the first since she was a child), and her dog, and our dog (we each still just had 1 dog then). It was right after we bought the trailer. We were gone for a month, and went E to my father's in the Ozarks, then N to Niagara Falls, then W to Mackinac Island...stayed in a State Park on the lake (loved that place...except for all the camp smoke!), then to the Big Mall in MN, then to the Monument, then to Yellowstone, then to volunteer at Best Friends in Kanab (just me and her did that), then home.

It was busy to get all that in in a month's time...but what a memorable trip...I tell ya! She loved it, too.

We're starting a new business together this month, which will eventually give us an opportunity to travel together more, so I don't know what she'll say exactly...

I'm excited and afraid all at the same time...weird!

I towed a 4500 pound trailer with WD system and never had that problem of lifting the system. My heaviest thing was also the hitch part that fits into the receiver, but there is no reason why you can just leave it on the tow vehicle if you don't want to do that lifting part. And like some of the others said, make sure your trailer is lifted high enough by your jack to take the pressure off the bars, then you won't have any problem with the rod.

If you are comfortable towing the trailer, then I say keep it. I sold my Rockwood last year due to lack of time to use it and also for financial constraints at the time. Had not planned to get another one till next year, so leased a Ford Flex out for 3 years. Great gas mileage and all that stuff. I can also tow up to 4500 pounds and is trailer equipped. Well, I retired this year instead and have been looking for a new TT, the which of I have found. Debated for some time the pros and cons of getting a MH as opposed to a TT again, but decided to go with the TT. I will only have the one vehicle to maintain, will have my two vehicle as my main transportation and also for my sightseeing vehicle. Also cheaper on the insurance all the way around. I'm comfortable with the decision. Some are not. It depends on what YOU want.

Check with some dealers and have them look at the system. Work on DH and explain to him that there are going to be times when maybe he might be sick, or can't go and you want too, and you need a system you can handle in an emergency. Good luck and keep us posted.

Thank you, Sue!

I've been adding it all up in my head; the extra ins., the extra pymt., the storage fee, the fact that it is an extra "vehicle." Where I'd be getting the dn. pymt. from.

How would I transport my bike and doggy stroller/trailer (they go in the back of the truck now).

I've got a threshold, and if I can't get under that I'll have to wait awhile...but I still want to do it!
