Another hot and steamy day! Still 93 right now. Gonna be this way all week I guess. It is August, so this is normal for us this time of year.

Today at work, one of the girls was doing a haircut on a little boy who was having a total fit. He jumped out of the chair halfway thru his haircut and ran into the lobby screaming and started throwing books and chairs around. His mom barely reacted. (Give that kid some Ritlin! And slap his mom upside the head!)

I guess the new guy had another bad incident yesterday with some guy giving him a hard time. I wonder if he will keep working there. That town is very conservative. Not a very open-minded community. He should really be working in South Minneapolis where no one would care that he is gay. Next week we have a black gal starting with us, so we will see how that goes. Not very many black/African American people live in that area either.

Gonna go make myself a BLT now. Maybe some cookies later on, since I got some more cookie dough today!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Cloudy and cool here. If I didn't know better I'd say it was the end of Sept!! I wore a jacket to walk the dog this morning and it was too chilly to sit out on the patio to eat breakfast! Oh, and my furnace was running, too!!

This morning my DH went to the local fuel dock to get our gas cans filled and ran into a salesman for an oil field service company that he knows. The guy gave him the best sausage bread I have ever eaten. The salesmen go around passing out food to get in good with the office staff at the different companies. The only reason I miss working down there. lol I ask him if he thought he could run into him again in the morning.

Ya know, I got some awful news today that affects me personally in ways I can’t even imagine yet. After my gigantic boo-hoo’ing pity party on George’s shoulder (God bless him…he didn’t quite understand it all), I sent the Doofus some stupid emails. I find humor a blessing to my otherwise hum-drum life. Actually, even when my life was not even close to hum-drum, humor was a huge part of it.

I’m curious – is humor a yeah or a nay in women’s lives? Sometimes, here on this forum, and many other places, I see people don’t have much of a sense of humor, or any type of ability to laugh at themselves, or find humor in an otherwise boring or depressing situation.

For instance, my Mom died almost 30 years ago. To this day, I think about her pretty dang often and wish I could once again share that special bond she had with me, her “baby”…we’re talkin’ T H I R T Y Y E A R S ! Do I make jokes about her being dead. Yup. Do I cry when I think about her, late at night, when it’s all quiet it in the house, or I’m sick and no one will do but my Mom? Yup – sometimes. Will you EVER be hugged again like your Mom hugs you? Nope. Do I make fun of being built JUST like her – HUGE boobs, plenty of back fat, not much hair – YUP.

I guess I'm just saying I feel sorry for people who take themselves, and life, too seriously. Dang - I’m gonna keep laughing, even in the most awful situations. My posts can always be skipped over, right? :o

Anyone else find humor comforting, in its own, unique way?

I also think most people are way too serious these days, something to do with all the PC stuff I suppose. Or maybe it has to do with all the bad new we hear every time we read a newspaper or listen to the news. I remember having loads of fun at work but we all worked hard, now I rarely hear anyone say they enjoy their work place.
So I'm with you Mitch, humor helps me through a lot of situations good and sad. I hope the bad news you got today somehow will turn out to be not as bad as you think.

Mitch, my sense of humor has gotten me thru many dark days! I also can't spend much time with people who have no sense of humor (like my family  ). Life is too short to take too seriously! Humor can put things back in perspective when we get overwhelmed or upset about stuff. Laughter and smiling release endorphines that lift our mood. You can't laugh and be depressed at the same time!

I hope you will be OK with whatever you are dealing with. Just know that you have lots of friends on here that support you and care about you! And we all have a great sense of humor (some more than others :D ) so hopefully that will help too!

I would have to make you promise NOT TO PEEK!!!! NO NO PEEKING!!! :o (somehow, I promise I would know if you did!!!! )

Well, Vickie told me, once again, that I'm a dufus...that I should clarify that I'm not sick. There is nothing wrong with my health.
I will be around, God willing, to torture The Doofus for a long time to come...
(and the rest of you who are tired of our bantering...now if she would just leave me alone!)

Why would I do that, laughter is what keeps us young......well, it might still help, you could try it. :P
