you all have been so busy this week and I'm missing all of it. Hopefully I can catch up soon, maybe
over the weekend. First week of back to work is done, now school starts on Monday. All of my
practice runs went well, only had one wrong address, that got corrected easy enough and several
gated communities that I had to get gate codes for. Yesterday was a 9 hour day, and it was one
of the hottest days of the week, 110! Hot again today but the weatherman says a cool down
around the corner, 105,
Don't know what the beer count is, but I'm grabbing one on my way out. Catch ya in a few days.

You drank #83 so there's 82 bottles of beer on the wall!

Thanks for keeping count, Vickie! I'll have one before I turn in and make it 81 bottles of beer on the wall. I like drinking this way...better on the stomach ;)

I got my work done in decent time this morning, so took a nice walk with Rags. The weather was beautiful here today! Temps in the 80's and much lower humidity. The heat and humidity is on it's way back for the weekend so went down to Indianola for the National Hot Air Balloon Classic tonight. I invited Jeanie, the other female custodian, to go with me. Her DH doesn't mind her doing things without him so we just had a girl's night. When I go to see the balloons, I always have to have my A&W fix ;) I generally eat pretty healthy, but have to have a coney, onion rings, and a root beer float. Man, was I stuffed! We went to my favorite viewing point, at a park on top of a hill, and sat in our lawn chairs. It was nice and cool and we got to see quite a few balloons. They didn't have a mass ascention, for some reason, but there were still a lot.

Got home in time to lock up the comfort stations and front gate. I was closing one of the comfort stations when I heard a man's voice calling from the dark, over by one of the shelters. He was walking my way, but I couldn't understand what he was saying. Something about 70th Street. I hurried up and locked the cs doors and told him I would call the ranger to come help him. I jumped in my truck, locked the door, and called the ranger on duty to have him come out. The guy came up next to the truck and was on his cell phone, trying to tell "Lisa" how to get back to the park to pick him up. I tried to help him, but she wasn't getting it so I just told him to stay there and wait for the ranger. Then, I got over by the fishing pier and there were two guys cleaning fish at the fish cleaning station. I yelled over to them and told them I was locking the gate. They said they were trying to hurry so I was sure they would not make it in time, but was amazed that they actually did! The rangers showed up, so I dummy locked the gate and told them they could lock it up.

I ordered the folding metro chair and ottoman I have been looking at online. I hope it is as nice as it looks.

Closest thing for me to a sleeping pill is a beer - and I don't want to be up all night - so grabbing one - and it's 80 bottles of beer left.

I had relatives that lived in Indianola when I was growing up - have been to that Hot Air Balloon Classic - a few times - many, many years ago.

I just made some oatmeal chocolate chip cookies, so help yourself while they are still warm and gooey!

I've been busy cleaning up my apartment since the manager will be showing it tomorrow morning and I want it to look (and smell) nice. I took a little break after work today and went down to the pool with a book for awhile. It was a beautiful day! Low 80's and no humidity! The heat and humidity will be moving back in tomorrow for the forseeable future so wanted to enjoy this weather while I can. I have Sunday off and it is supposed to be hot, muggy and stormy, so I can stay home and get some sorting and packing done.

Still trying to figure out my plans for when I will be heading southwest. I am really trying to fit in the AR GTG if at all possible. Will have to see how things go with the job and money in the next 3 or 4 weeks here.

At least one of the new stylists is starting tomorrow. That should be interesting! My manager has been leaving me alone lately which has been nice! Now she will have her hands full with the new ones to pick on!!!

We used to call them the Balloon Races, then they changed it somewhere along the way. They used to have competitions and it seemed more exciting. I had an uncle who lived on W. Salem so we used to go visit them and walk to Simpson College campus (where they used to have it). Now, it is east of town, and they charge admission to get in where the balloon field is. I always park up the road at a park. It's free and the view is good. My only expense is dinner at A&W, which I have to do when I go ;)

Those cookies sound yummy, Barbie :D I have had a sweet tooth lately, for some reason. I'm glad your boss is backing off lately. Hopefully, she doesn't give the newbies such a hard time that they quit :o It's good that you took some time to relax by the pool today ;) The weather has been real nice here, too, for a couple of days. We are in for high heat and humidity for the next week, also

I got out my Land Rollers this morning after work. If you have watched "The Dog Whisperer", then you may have seen Cesar wearing them when he takes his pack of dogs for a run. I haven't skated in a few years so wasn't sure how it would go, but it was like riding a bike :D I took Rags with me and he ran along beside me. I like the cross training. I already walk a lot and ride my bike some.

I better get to bed. All of my shelters are reserved tomorrow so it will be a busy day. Good night, girls!

So while I wait......80 bottles of beer on the wall..........80 bottles of beer....I'll take one down to have with lunch......79 bottles of beer on the wall..... ;)

Lori, it is wonderful that you can all support each other regarding your mom's care and future. It makes such a difference. And a good nursing home placement can provide some social interaction that is difficult to come up with at home. Sitting here by the fire getting about ready to spend the last of my fun money...on a kayak order. Need it before AR I am thinking....... :) Also scheduled Izzy to have a small fatty tumor removed from her left rump on Tuesday. It really hasn't grown or changed and the vet said that I could just monitor it but because I know it is there it is very visible to me and I can't help but think it would/could be in a show ring. Not so good there. So Izzy's show career will have to wait until her surgery shaved spot and her belly hair grow back. Yeah, she says....Woof woof, I get to be a tom boy, hiking, swimming, boating fool....no fancy don't mess up my coat show dog for me!

Another busy day at work! One of our new stylists is a gay guy just out of school. He is very obviously gay by the way he talks, mannerisms, etc. One male customer today refused to let him cut his hair and made a big deal about it. The manager had one of the girls do it instead. We all felt bad about it, especially since it was his first day.
Another guy came in yesterday who is known for sexually harassing the stylists there, so the manager escorted him out the door and sent him on his way.

I am now looking for a place to live in the Palm Springs area for the latter part of September or Oct 1st. Am looking to rent a room with a private bath if possible. I have checked on Roommates.com but most of them are looking for someone to move in immediately. I would like to have something lined up before I go. If any of you know anyone out there who might have a room for rent (even short-term), let me know. I don't think I will be taking my cat with me, so I will be petless :( . I am going to check with some other people I know of out there who may know of someone with a place/room. With the economy the way it is, a lot of people are renting out rooms to help pay their mortgages.

I have tomorrow off, so am planning to do some sorting, tossing and packing. I got my apartment cleaned up yesterday since they were planning to show it today. It is going to be hot, steamy and stormy tomorrow so will be a good day to stay in and do indoor projects.

I will either leave her with my dad if he is willing to take her (he has a cat already that I left with him when I moved to Colorado 10 years ago), or find a very good home for her. The ferrets will be going to my ferret-sitter.

Got some fresh cookies here tonight (the ones from last night are long gone!), so help yourself! Can't share them with the ferrets anymore (against vet's orders) so have plenty left over for y'all!

Spent most of the day sorting thru the stuff in one of my storage rooms. Most of it went to the give-away area in our parking garage. Lots of Christmas stuff! Thru out a bunch more. Felt good to finally get rid of stuff! Got one more storage room to go thru but that one isn't nearly as bad. Then onto things in my apartment. Ran into a lady today who just moved in and has a ton of boxes she needs to get rid of, so I went to her apartment and picked up a bunch of them. That sure helps!

Buster had some trouble walking this morning (symptoms of low blood sugar) so I gave him some Prednisone and Karo Syrup and he was fine in about 5 minutes. I just have to keep a close eye on him now and watch for the signs so I can give him his medicine right away.

Had a storm roll thru a little while ago, nothing severe tho. Sure dropped the temp down! It was mid 90's this afternoon with dew points in the mid 70's, and now the temp is at 79 degrees. Much better! I read that California has been cooler than normal this summer, even in the desert. That's where I need to be! I checked on rooms for rent out there today and there sure are a lot available. Many people are renting out rooms in their homes to help pay their mortgages. I am a little nervous about renting sight unseen tho. I had a bad experience renting a room when I lived in Santa Barbara. It turned out to be a big party house with lots of drugs and alcohol almost every night of the week. Will have to ask lots of questions before committing to anything.

No cookies tonight. Ran out of cookie dough  Will get some more tomorrow :D

Have a good night!

We're rockin' and rollin' here tonight  Rags definitely doesn't like the storms. He didn't used to mind, but has recently changed his opinion ;) He can't get any closer to me, but at least he's not shaking this time. High winds initially. Now, lots of lightning and rain that we don't need. We had heat indexes in the triple digits today, so it was bound to stir up something.

Well, I better get to bed. Hope I can sleep! May have to turn off the weather radio
