I should be in bed because I have to get up at 5 to take 3 more barn cats to the spay and neuter clinic. Last night I was worried about one of my house cats because she wasn't acting like she usually does. Well, tonight she is back to her crazy self. I was asleep and she woke me up.

I wish I could see the picture of the mink. I thought they were mean. If he eats snakes he can come live at my house. In the last few years we have started seeing otters. Unfortunately it is usually dead on the road.

Thanks Vicikie, I see you fixed the mink picture.

As I am usually around a real campfire at night lately, I never seem to get in here----but I do read what's going on in the mornings, as I am doing now. It sounds as if RABBITS lucky thing is working for Barbie! CONGRATS! And may your new boss be a sane person with sane rules!

I will be having several cold beers around my fire tonight, I am sure, and will lift a can in a toast to you all!

Beth, I'm here....just can't get in sometimes because of the signal....

I agree that somewhere Fernie wrote that personal issues will keep her away for awhile.....Barbzee is also dealing with physical and family issues, so these gals will be away....but I'm sure when things settle down and get back to whatever is normal for them, they'll check back in....

Sometimes, this Campfire thread gets lost on page 2...but that's okay cause it always comes back ;) ...mostly because folks are busy with their lives, etc. But never fear, it will always be here...for venting, sharing the day's events, or just sitting around having a drink and some good eats.....just like at our GTGs....on that note.....

85 bottles of beer on the wall...............85 bottles of beer............I took 1 down for sipping.....so........84 bottles of beer on the wall.... ;)

Barbie that is great news will be keeping you in my thoughts this morning and hoping your call to the GC's in CA will turn out well!!
Wish I had a slice of your peach pie Linda. I've never seen a mink in the wild, would probably think it was a weasel.

Normally mink, like other wild animals, are shy, but I have heard several stories about very friendly mink approaching people. They look very much like ferrets (size, build, etc) but are dark brown/black all over. Weasels are smaller and are a medium brown (or white in winter). Otters, of course, are much bigger and have wide tails at the base that taper down.

*I put a call into the CA GC's owner and am (anxiously) waiting a call back...(it's 10:30 am CST)
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Thanks, Vickie, for fixing my picture! Not sure how to post pics yet. I some help ;) If my computer was working when Barbie was here, I would have had her give me a crash course. Come back, Barbie!!! Anyway...I did think Ernie was a weasel at first, but my boss said it looked like a mink. Barbie knows her weasel, mink, ferret facts so I trust her the most :D I took some dry dog food (it has salmon in it) with me today to try to coax Ernie out, but couldn't get him to come to my usual sounds. Think he hunts on a schedule and we were a bit late today.

Awesome pie, Mitch! I have to admit yours is prettier with the lattice top crust. I have done that, but just put a regular top on it this time. I like fruit pies the best and peach is maybe my favorite. I couldn't pass up the peaches at Walmart for 25 cents/lb. Don't think I've ever seen them that cheap  I have enough frozen rhubarb for 2 pies. I need a bigger freezer! May have to invest in a little one to put in my under storage (basement) ;)

It is after noon, so what the heck...I'll take one down, pass it around...83 bottles of beer on the wall!

The only thing I did was remove one of the [IMG] things on the start and finish of your copied code. For some reason you had two.

Be very careful about trying to get a wild animal like that to come to you. It will then think all people are friendly - and that is usually the death of that animal - because, unfotunately, all people are NOT friendly. If you leave food - leave it not in the open - and not to draw the animal to you - take it into it's territory and leave it.

I know - they are so cute - and you just can't help but want to make friends out of them - but they are wild animals and really need to remain so.

Too early for a beer for me but might come back later for one.

I just got back from taking Peahces on her maiden kayak voyage. She is a trooper - and will be able to go with me for longer ones (but not like the longer one I did earlier today in the 100 degree heat). I won't do that to her. But these temps won't last forever.

Yeah, the wild kayaking women of the RV world and their daring water pups! :) ...and I support Beth's observations and suggestions regarding wild life. Keep them wild and they will be safer....and be aware that wild animals can carry diseases that may be harmful particularly to our furry critters.

Three days of dog show are complete and one more to help with tomorrow. After the ring fencing is all taken down, stacked up and loaded and the mats get cleaned rolled and loaded...we will head to our cars and down I71 I will go. The last three days have been sort of odd. I have been around some of the loveliest wonderful dogs and boy do I miss my own pups. I know that I could have brought them with me....they are allowed in the motel rooms and they have a curtained off "kenneling" area for judges and volunteers to keep their dogs in the building with us during the day. They COULD have come but.....I can't help but think that they are happier sitting back in the AC and periodically running through the yard and through the grass...... I'll have to remember to ask when I get back.

Thanks for sharing the peach pie, it hit the spot! :)

I already considered the wild animal safety thing. I don't want to tame Ernie...just get more pics. I saw another mink when I was on my bicycle with Rags running alongside. He popped up in the grass and looked at us. John, another custodian, said he saw one today when he looked out the front of his mh. The place is crawling with them :o

I feel good that I got my fridge/freezer all defrosted and cleaned out today :D It's the simple pleasures, isn't it? With the high humidity the frost really builds up in the back. Also got Myrtle releveled and my jacks cleaned and lubed and added fluid to the jack pump. I have been feeling like the V8 commercial where the person felt like they were leaning all the time.

I work alone tomorrow, so better get some sleep. Have a great night! I just had a cup of ginger tea so will pass on the beer for now ;)

I hate to admit it, but I agree with Beth too. (Altho, I would probably want to take the mink home with me! Oh ya, that's right, I already have two of them critters here...)

No word back from that GC's owner yet. I will try again in the morning since I have tomorrow off.

I got a few replies to my ads on Craig's List for my furniture. I think one is a scam tho. The guy wants my fireplace and wants me to ship it to him (not sure where to?) after he sends a cashier's check. I certainly am not shipping that big heavy thing anywhere! I think I have seen something about that same type of letter before, that it isn't legit. Oh ya, now I remember... got the same letters when I had my mom's cat listed on PetFinder.com. I got about 6 of the same letter from different people in different locations around the world! Ya, like I am going to ship a cat to Australia!

Have a ton of things to do tomorrow! Gotta go thru my storage room and sort thru everything in there and get rid of most of it, so I can make room for other things I will be packing up to store at my dad's later.

Not a beer drinker so will let the rest of you work on the count down!
