I keep Ridex for the house and the 5th wheel too. I am a big believer in it. I had told Echo to use it yesterday when we talked about all this. It may take a while, but those little bacteria should work.

Whew! Have got the trailer mostly level but still need to work on it a little more. Got the power hooked up, new sewer hose hooked up, water hooked up and the A/C running. Need to pick up some bulbs for the lights inside. I am sticky, sweaty and smelly. I really should start moving stuff into the new trailer but I said the heck with it. I'm now in the old trailer enjoying the A/C and have goose bumps, sitting at the table typing on here with Shade glued to my back. She's been pretty much glued to me since I got home last night. I felt like a heel last night when I got here. She was sooooooo happy to see me but had to go P first. After she was done she came back and into the house and started growling, whining and in general talking to me. Ears back, tail kinda down but going 100mph. I think her missed her Mommy. Her luv's her sissy but I'm guessing Mommy is still the best. Got to disconnect the water hose tho, forgot to put the Y on the end. I am gonna try the rid-x and hope for the best. I sure don't want to have to dump that thing every other day. I do need to see if I can get that shaft pulled and if I can get that valve back open after Paul hammered it shut tho!!! Might have to play with that!!! Need to pick up some bulbs for the lites and Dawn reminded me that there are some florescent lites in the overhead cubbies too. Right now there's only one light working and that's over the table. Well the tiny one over the stove works too. The bathroom lite works but I forgot to check the bedroom. Dang it!

I sure didn't strain myself today but dang am I tired. I just bet that it wont take much for me to go to sleep tonight!! I've aleady nodded off here at the table once. I need to stay awake tho as I will have to pick Kelly up from work. I think I will go up and take a shower first tho! Shade don't mind in the least but I find that I'm not pleasant to sit here with in this state!!! My own company leaves something less to be desired! I STINK!

Echo, when we were at the Open Range Service Center the service guy told us to use Palmolive Dish Soap to keep tank pulls & gaskets lubed and pulling easier.....so when you get everything "freed up" and emptied....get a large bottle of Palmolive, divide it up equally between all empty tanks, fill them all up with water. let it sit for a few minutes or a little longer, then dump them all...it works ;) ....all our pulls have pulled hard since we got the new 5er and we noticed the difference.....the guy suggested to do this about every 6 months to keep them lubed.....And that's "Lori's helpful Hint" for the day... :D

So how many tanks are we talking about here?? I think I only have two, do some RV's have more than that? I noticed Barbzee also said ALL the tanks. Palmolive, who would have thought, wonder what is in it that would lubricate, dish soap usually removes grease. But sure sounds like it works good so I'll have to get a bottle.

If you put Palmolive down your sink & shower drains to go into the gray tanks, doesn't it bubble all over the place when you run water in them?

but thinking if I try to use the restroom inside as much as I can it will be awhile till I need to
might have to use the rid-x though or do you wait until it's full?

Sheila, you can put a little ridx in there anytime, its an enzyme that eats away at the poop  yuk
it will just keep eating away as the tank fills.

We have 3 total...1 galley (kitchen sink), 1 bathroom (bathroom sink & shower) and the black tank...Palmolive doesn't suds up as much as others do, is a degreaser and lubes the pulls and the gaskets in the tanks (according to the service center tech.) And remember to rinse the tanks after the "soak" of the tanks...usually a couple times...will do the trick....

Sheila,

What I do is put about a gallon of water down the toilet after dumping to put a little water in the black tank then add about a quarter cup of Rid-X while flushing. It helps to break down the solids and TP.

Lori, since I use Palmolive for my dishes I am guessing the gray tank for my kitchen hopefully is staying cleaned and lubed. Will try it on the shower tank too. Thanks.

my rv has two tanks, one just for the toilet and the other one for the tub, bathroom sink and kitchen sink. When I would hook up
my washer to the kitchen sink and do a load or two I would close the gray tank and let it fill with used laundry water for a good soak.
When it was full (OVERfull) the water would show up in the tub. I just let it set for awhile and then opened it to flush out the gray
tank. I would imagine my gray tank always stayed pretty clean.

This is not a natural solution however I spray my pulls for the waste water tanks with WD40... that keeps them pulling out very easily...
I will now use the treatments for the inside of the tanks... it sounds like a winner...

WD40 isn't recommended on most RV parts - use a Silicone Spray instead. And I do spray my pulls occasionally. I use any dish soap (natural dish soap) in my tank occasionally. Don't need it in the grey tank - it gets it naturally doing dishes. Put some in the toilet and use it to clean it - safe and works, and helps with the tank.

Some have 2 tanks, some 3. I have two - plenty enough for me :) And some have bathroom sinks that will drain into either tank - or into the black tank. If you have one of those - hard to know - but then you'll get soap in the black tank by washing your hands in the bathroom sink.
