I'll have one!

I'm sorry you have such a crappy boss, Barbie. Seems to me that she might be doing the knit picking stuff as a way to see how bad you want or need to stay there and when she's like that and you stay, she has more power over you because she knows you'll take it. It's called verbal abuse! I'll be glad when you can move on to a better place. Tell me again when you go to see Bikerchic and how long will you stay? Hopefully it will be a relaxing, giggle time for you all! :D

I am leaving right from work on Monday (2pm) and heading down. It is about a 4 hour drive so I should get there around 6. Then I can relax! I will head back on Wednesday night around 6 or 7. I was going to stay until Thursday morning but have to be at work at 1pm until 9, and that would be a really long tiring day. Wish I could stay there longer but can't take any more time off from work than that.

I was told by one of the stylists last night that this is one of the most strict GC's salons there is. I think the reason a lot of the girls stay as long as they do, is because of the money. I just need to keep focused on my upcoming move and try to tune out my manager as much as possible and do all the dumb, piddly things she wants me to do until then.

I think I will start sending out resumes to shops in CA as soon as I get back from seeing Linda. Would like to not start a job out there until October 1st (so I can go to the AR GTG) but will take something sooner if I get a good offer.

Barbie, hate to hear of the crap you have to put up with. Been there and done that, The main thing is YOUR objective. Do what you have to to get the funds you need for your plans.
Not that much longer and money sounds like its what you need to do what YOU WANT. That boss, will be a bad memory one day. What comes around goes around, and one day she will pay for her atittude. So hang in there, eat your cookies around our fire here and know that you have a lot of people rooting for you. You're working for your goal, and thats all that matters right now.

Good luck,
CArol

Lenora, the slider window is easy to work with for the portable air conditioner. In fact, I did it with a weird slider window in Jean's rig. Because the rv windows are smaller, it didn't fit perfectly, and would have to be cut to do so, but I managed to make it work without cutting. And if you only needed to use it occasionally - you could also. It just goes sideways in the slider window instead of at the bottom - again, real easy. And the portable ac isn't a bad thing to have for the occasions you might need one.

Liz has one that is fancier - it also is a dehumidifier and heater as needed.

(Can you tell I'm really impressed with this portable ac we got for Jean? I am.)

Barbie, knowing that your days at the shop are numbered (and the boss doesn't) would keep an inner smirk going within me. Think of that the next time she has one of her power trips. The more you concentrate on the end result, the easier it will be to deal with your boss. Thanks for the cookies. Let the gigglefest begin. Have a great time. Linda

All my slider windows openings are egress so they are 4 FT high and a couple feet wide. Yeh, if I was to have wks and wks of this weather I'd take the time to rig something up, but until then, I guess you'll just have to listen to me whine. ;)

Hi from the N CA coast! I've been camping this week with friends, then my sister and her grandsons. Totally 'unplugged', lots of fun and COOL!! So many new posts, it's going to be a bit for me to catch up when I get home. Here's some driftwood for the fire. Hot chocolate and s'mores have been a hit. Take care, talk to you all soon!

I don't care if that chain of hairdressing shops is famous, or not---that manager needs to be flogged! What they are requiring of you girls is totally illegal, idiotic, and just plain sweat-shop tactics. I can't WAIT for you to get free of that place, and I sure hope the CA shops are being run legally and with caring humans for managers.

THERE----I have expressed my hatred for where you are working!

Had a relaxing fun day at work - my manager wasn't there today! I seem to make more money in tips when she isn't around. That is probably because I am more relaxed, friendly and cheerful to my customers, instead of tense, distracted, and walking on eggshells when she is around. Customers can feel that, I am sure.

Anyways, I am getting packed and ready to go! Looks like I might be putting up my tent in the rain tomorrow evening :( . But Tues and Weds are supposed to be clear and hot! I won't have my laptop with me so you will have to wait until Thursday to find out how things went. Will take lots of pictures tho.

I better keep packing! I am leaving straight from work tomorrow so have to have the car all packed and ready to go in the morning.

Have fun Barbie and take lots of pics. Maybe the rain will let up long enough for you to set up.

barbie....want to mention something that none of us have thought of and we should have.... but as I read this series of postings I remembered one of our sisters that used real names and hers was googled, it wasn't a pretty ending I don't think her daughter is speaking to her yet! and it's been a couple of years...I'd hate for you to have fall out from your manager. fortunately her name hasn't been used but we need to be careful I know I use my name but try to when posting a thread not use any of my families real name.... I want to give you my sympathies with having a manager as you have but at the same time please be careful and not mention names that may come back to haunt you

Thanks for that reminder. I don't think anyone would be able to track me here tho, would they? I just use my first name and no one else's names.

My ferret-sitter just left with her keys. I called Linda for directions since MapQuest sent me on a wild goose chase (luckily only on-line!) to the wrong campground on the wrong side of the lake. I didn't think it looked right, so I called her to verify, and it wasn't. Now I have the right directions!

I learned one thing tonight. I definately won't be able to move to California without a trailer in tow. I was thinking I could pack everything into my car that I want to take with me out there. Wrong! I barely have room for myself in the car right now just with my camping stuff! I forget how small that car really is! (Ford Escort Wagon). That means I need to get a trailer hitch installed so I can rent a small U-Haul when I move. Glad I figured that out now instead of when I get ready to go out there!
