Barbie in our big charcoal grill I use the throw away aluminum pans, so I'm sure that foil would probably work too.

After all those storms came thru last night, it turned out to be a beautiful day today! 83 and mostly sunny with a light breeze! My dad took me out for lunch (had a waffle, scrambled eggs, hashbrowns and washed it all down with a hot fudge/banana malt!). Then went to his house (stopping to rescue a turtle on the way) to see what he got down from his attic yesterday. He got 4 tents, a sleeping bag (chewed up by chippies), a small filthy charcoal grill, and a bag with stakes, mallots, etc, in it, which I need (the stakes they give you with tents are so puney and worthless!). 3 of the tents are little pup tents and one is a larger one that I about drowned in several years ago, even after using a whole can of waterproofing and a wax stick on the seams. I think I will stick with the new one I bought.
Later I went to Target and got a few little things I needed. I saw a thing there for a charcoal grill that you use instead of charcoal. It looks like a hub cap from a car, made out of tin foil with holes in it. You just set it in the cooker and light it thru one of the holes. It is all enclosed other than the little holes (must have charcoal inside). Has anyone heard of or used one of those before? It cost $5 and is disposable. Might try one. How do you clean the grease off a grill?

It is a great evening for a campfire! Spent some time sitting by the pool this evening reading a book and watching the boats go by. Now I need to do some laundry and get to bed early. The weather is supposed to be great for the next week or so.

Hope you all had a great weekend!

PS> I found the website for that cooking disk called Flame Disk. It actually has gel fuel inside of it. Here is the link...
(Oh, and you can get a coupon for a free one from their website)

Ha! Well, don't have a dog and this grease has been on this grill for many years while sitting up in my dad's attic. Maybe I should just get a new one (only $14 at Target). Or get the disposable ones. Won't really need one anyways when I go down to visit Bikerchic in July, so not a big priority.

Hey Dewfus, I used Easy Off oven cleaner on my grill when it gets bad. Works like a charm. For really gross grills I have put them in the self cleaning oven, let that do its job and then rinse off the residue. Worth a try if you don't need one now. Linda

Thanks for the suggestions!

The price of the tent w/porch I wanted went down to $147.50 and then back up to $180 in a matter of a couple days! What's up with that??? Really want that tent but don't want to spend that much! Will hang on to the tent I just bought and wait for a couple more weeks to see if this one comes down again to a reasonable price after the 4th. That is when all summer stuff seems to go on clearance.

Today was a beautiful day again! Mid 70's, no humidity, sunny, slight breeze! Perfect! I played golf tonight and it was perfect weather for that. Not even any bugs! I played awful tho! Made lots of Dewfus mistakes! The girls were laughing at me! I think I was just really tired from working all day. But I had fun anyways. Stopped at DQ on the way home for a hot fudge banana sundae loaded with whipped cream! Yum!

Was told today by my boss that I passed my 30 day "trial" period and am a full-fledged employee now. The only thing she said I need to work on is selling more product, and shaving a few minutes off my haircut times. Tomorrow I get my first paycheck from them so I am anxious to see how much it is for (hourly salary plus productivity bonus). I am averaging about $8/hr in tips, so not bad there either!

I wore a pair of my new shoes to work today. They were very comfortable but I noticed half way thru the day that the color on the shoes was wearing off! I will have to send them back. I will try the other shoes tomorrow. They are a different brand and style.

I saw a squirrel today on the golf course with no tail. That was sad  but he seemed to be doing OK running around looking for food. I would imagine he has trouble up in the trees tho, since they use their tails for balance when climbing and jumping. He looked kind of strange tho. We weren't sure what he was at first. Must have gotten the tail caught in something or bit off by an animal. Poor little guy!

It is a good night for a campfire here! It is chilly out tonight so the fire feels nice and warm!

I hate the desert!! :x cause its so hot! I come home from work and immediately
shut the door to keep the heat out and a/c in. Two more school days and I'm done.
Do have a job lined up on friday and saturday though, both days are in the early
morning hours before it heats up, 4 to 5 hours depending on the temperatures as
we will be working on a roof. A guy I know has a handyman contract with some
commercial properties and its time to paint the roof. Its a flat roof, and the paint
stuff is like a white insulation stuff that gets put on with paint rollers. Very easy,
but if it gets too hot we have to come down. Not my favorite thing to do (hard labor)
but it will put a few bucks in my pocket, and as time goes on he will kick me a few
other things my way that he knows I'm capable of doing.
Time to scrounge around in the fridge and see whats to eat, I'm hungry. :D

So what you're saying, Ava, is that you were just getting in a little practice when you climbed up on Birdie's roof, huh. Just take it easy up there and don't get overheated and drink lots of water! Hopefully the other jobs that he might pass your way, will be easier work.

Ava, sounds great - and I do know someone who used to start working at 3-4 am in southern AZ to do construction, so they could be done before noon.

Hope you can make some good money doing this - and that he gives you some decent jobs to help you keep afloat. Take care up there, tho - don't want you injured, you hear?

Geez, the price of that tent I want goes up and down faster than the gas prices!! It has gone from $180 to $142 and back and forth every single day now for 4 days! This morning it was at $142, now tonight it is back to $180!! What are they doing over there at Amazon??? Driving me crazy!! I was all set to buy it tonight after work since I got paid today, but maybe by tomorrow morning it will be down again!

Another cool, dry, beautiful day today! A good night to leave the windows open!

Ava, be careful on those roofs! Don't get overheated or fall off!

Linda (Bikerchic) says "hi" to you all! She is still having computer problems but will be back on once those are finally fixed. I will be down there visiting with her two weeks from today. Can't wait!! I guess they are having some flooding problems down there from all the rain. Sounds like the campground is partially closed near the river so she isn't working much right now. Her DGD's have been visiting her so she is keeping busy with them.

Have a good night!

Barbie, I assume you are checking the price of the tent online @ Amazon. I'd give them a call and tell them you want it at the $142 price and see if they'd agree. Worth a shot if it's something you really, really, really want. :D

I discovered that the tents they have available now are from other stores, not from Amazon, but just being advertised by Amazon. So they have nothing to do with the price on those, plus there is shipping involved with the ones from these other stores on top of it. Amazon must have sold out theirs last week. So I guess I am SOL on that one. But the one I have is good enough for now. It is plenty big inside for a sitting area for two people so with the rainfly off it will be nice to be in there to get away from the bugs and still get fresh air if it is nice out.

Took a 3 hour nap after work tonight! Gotta start getting to bed earlier! Today wasn't as busy so I got to sit down a few times and eat something. It will be less busy now thru the first part of August and then we will get slammed with back to school haircuts. I need to find out how to apply for a transfer to another shop (in CA). I will probably start checking on that towards the end of July. I need to give my 60 day notice for my apartment on August 1st so it would be nice to have some idea about the job possibilities before then!! Linda hasn't had a chance to get on-line to check for winter jobs at campgrounds in California yet which makes me nervous, too. If she can't find one out there, then I could end up going out there on my own, and without a job to go to, that would be not a good situation if I have no where to stay. I don't want to worry about that right now. I have warm cookies waiting for me that I need to worry about right now...
