Hi Carolb,
I wanted a Class B but ended up with a really nice Class C with very few miles and at a much better price than I could find on a used B. B's start out very expensive when new. Most are sticker priced around $115,000 although you can easily buy a new one for about $85.000 if you are willing to negotiate. Having said that if the original buyer overpaid, then they are trying to get as much on resale as possible. A lot more "handwork" goes into a B which also adds to the cost. I purchased my rig at Campbell RV in Sarasota FL. It is owned by two brothers. They were very patient with me, calling me about every B or B+ that came on their lot. But one day Colin called me and said he had a super nice C that I should look at. He knew it would be a super deal for me and I ended up buying it after four visits. I had spent months looking at Bs. I have not regretted my decision.
I would suggest that you drive both Bs and Cs. If you feel that a C is too big, you will be surprised at how easy it is to drive. The B will be easier to get into some areas, especially parking in a parking lot where space is at a premium. The mileage will be better too but if you get a diesel, you pay more for diesel fuel so the savings are eaten into that way. I am fulltiming in my C and doing accounting work from my RV. Hadn't planned on working when I bought it but couldn't have done this in a B.
You'll know the right one when you find it. We all have different needs and wants. Liz gave you very good advice as to what to check. If the rig you buy is not too old, you may also be able to look at its service records. Good luck!
