What a great spot, Laura! And a successful maiden voyage to boot. So encouraging!! Thanks for posting all about it. You had me worried for a minute about finding a coffee pot for boondocking (I agree with your no coffee no camping philosophy; or at least no coffee very cranky Ellen ), but then Colleen reassured me with the idea of a stove-top percolater. And if I understand the inverter topic over in Technical Issues, would an inverter work to power a regular coffee pot? Or would that be too great a drain on the coach battery?

Ellen,
If you get a motorhome, you most likely will have a built-in generator so you would have electricity for a coffee pot while you're boondocking. What I will do is go camping WITH you and plug my coffee pot into the outside outlet of your coach

Don't let her fool ya Ellen, she will be pounding on your door with her cup and cardboard sign in hand. Oh and did I mention "looking pitiful".

Oh sure! Drain the battery on MY rig - not! Wait, I'll be plugged in. No prob! You bring the cup, I'll have the coffee.

(Note to self: It's a rental. Put coffee maker on the list. This would be so much simpler if it was my own. Hey there's an idea!)

Hard to beat that spot, Laura. As for the coffee: Melitta has a plastic drip coffee maker that fits on top of a mug. Uses #2 cone filters and you heat up water on the stove to pour into the thing. I hunted and finally found it in a supermarket way on the top shelf over the coffees, etc. Doesn't take up any space at all. I also have an old fashioned top of the stove percolator, but sometimes it just seems too long to wait for it! Boiling a cup of water is faster!
