Would love to stay here the rest of summer. We have a mom & dad Loon with a baby nearby. I'm in love with a loon (the bird). Baby is so cute. Mom & Dad take turns holding baby on their back while the other dives for food. It is precious. I only get WiFi in the evenings out by the evening bon fire and endure the many bugs. So I've missed morning coffee these past fee days. Cabin is on Great Moose Lake in St. Albans, Me near Newport. The lake is warm and so wonderful for swimming and kayaking. Stars are bright. I'm beginning to sound like an advertisement. Aloha for now.

That's one of the places I would like to go. I use to tell my son that I was going to take him to Maine and fill him up on Lobsters. He would get me to buy the yucky, rubbery ones that they sell in the grocery store.

YUM! Lobster, especially New England-type lobster, is one of my top favorite foods! Your camp looks beautiful, and your pics really do it justice. The only other thing I crave, almost more than lobster, is whole-bodied fried clams! Those fried clam strips just don't cut it for me!

You could still cut through the Adirondacks on your way to Iowa!

Thanks for the latest pics!

Portland headlight is my most favorite place so far in the whole country. It was the first place I went after things settled down in May. Lobsta is selling for 3.99 a pound here and I haven't even bought one yet. Thinking about it though and these pics make it more enticing. I have to have them cooked at the store as I can't put them in the pot to cook, Les used to do it for me. Gonna be near Wells ME over Labor Day weekend will have some Lobsta Stew while there. Lots of Lobsta and Cream YUMMY!!

Have a great trip.

Now there are the steamers! And since you have a different blouse on, we know you had lobster more than once!

Also, just in the interest of culinary science, I found this paragraph at http://www.state.ia.us/government/dca/iac/programs/folk-and-traditional-arts/place_based_foods/index.htm:
"Tasty Iowa pork tenderloins, creamy Maytag blue cheese, sweet and crispy Dutch letters, a juicy Muscatine melon ~ these are just a few of the foods that evoke a taste of place that transport you to Iowa’s rolling green hills, scenic rivers, and friendly small towns. We seek out these foods ~ to eat locally when we visit, purchase as souvenirs or gifts, or hunt down in specialty shops. They nourish not only our bodies but our spirit."

The blue is my own emphasis. The Dutch letters had me stumped, especially since I'm 1/2 Dutch, but I found them and I want you to bring each of us some, okay? Yum!!

Ellen - I am 1/2 Dutch as well on my dad's side. Don't have much experience with Dutch cuisine, but looking forward to whatever Iowa has to offer - culinary that is
