Thanks all for your input. Donna, where in Illinois because I do have two overnight stops planned there. Tentatively at Kankakee River and Starved Rock state parks. Are either of those near you? I love meeting forum sisters. I am trying to persuade my MIL to come with me. She keeps retiring then taking new jobs and she is claiming she can't be gone that long. I tell her if they want her to work for them she should just tell them she needs to be free to travel lol Anyway, we are still working that out. she may come with me and then fly home early.

Hello there,
I was born in South Dakota and we used to have the basketball tournments at the Corn Palace in Mitchell SO DAK
The last time I was up there, my brother spoke of that place and I can not remember the conversation very well.
It was quit a sight to see. I will do some checking with all the family there and then get back to you. I so wish I had
a Motor Home as this would be a great trip for me...like re-tracing old roots and plains area where I was raised.
Also will check with family about points of interest which could be incorporated into the route. I am going to be driving up to Sioux Falls area for a family wedding early July..,Oh in Sioux Falls is the FALLS. Might want to check that out.
Great thoughts for a trip...good luck
By the way I received aprivate note from Flick4411 (Li) sometime ago, answered it and have never received anything else.
I just hope she is okay and nothting happened to her. Any info would be appreciated.
Travel Safe

I just thought of another marvelous city...Springfield Ill, the home of Abraham Lincoln. When I drove through there last I was fighting bad weather and unable to anything except the libray. HOW BEAUTIFUL. The city in it self is a great city and there is much to learn about history there as they have set up walking tour to cover all the buildings etc of the Presdents.
I was most impressed. i do not know if this is in your drive plans but a consideration if close I would think.
