I was lucky enough to meet her once in Port A, my first night there. she and Beth came and got me and we all went to dinner and talked and laughed like we had known each other forever. she immediately offered to come get me the next morning and drive me around to all the RV parks so I could find one I liked. I got to stay at Pioneer instead (where Beth was working) and she gave me my first ever ride on the beach where she took this photo.Image

I'm bringing some shrimp....cold with cocktail sauce....Sparkle must have ordered it.

Peaches ran like a crazy dog and woof woofed when I mentioned Jean's name. She really loved Jean - and just before I left for FL, Peaches laid on the bed next to Jean and Jean petted her. Peaches is NOT a dog that cuddles in bed, but cuddled right next to Jean for as long as Jean wanted to pet her.

I was going to get shrimp :) WIll leave it to you.

Now my friend "Sparky" (as I always called her) is soaring the Universe...and I can only imagine the trouble she'll be getting into.

My first meeting of Sparky was when both Beth and I came on line to another forum...Beth and I had come from a very weird and crazy one to a sort of mild and mannered ..(somewhat) till we met up with Sparky...(Beth if you remember) we both thought.."Oh my Gawd, this women is wild and loonie"...her manner was so "Out there"... I use to shake my head and laugh and thought... "I can only imagine she must be a BLONDE"... She was unreal...and her antics were more like ...Stirring the Pot...and walking away laughing ...leaving those who got into it...the blame...and she'd PM me laughing the whole time.. Her special antic was the "Liver Treats" She'd make them for the DAWGS...however if some fine man was walking his...she'd offer him ..just for his sweet dawg LOL She was the only character that I couldn't wait to meet... and we did at the first GTG in Florida... she was and always will be a "HOOT" in my books..

Beth you know my thoughts and prayers are with you...and Jean will always be a part of your heart...You two became two peas in a pod.. She's now at peace although when I see a shooting star I'll know Sparky has done kicked someone's butt LOL She was a class act of her own...

God Bless You Sparky !

Zeee..... The Milky Way is gonna be a milk shake for a long long time...

PS...Mitch thank you for the beautiful job you did on the collections of pictures..

I KNOW I posted pictures of Jean and I at Kaibab on the other forum, but they're not on PB now. I can't imagine where they went, and of course the originals went south with my other computer. But anyway, here's the story...I was on my way to Arkansas, and figured what the heck, Kaibab isn't that far out of the way traveling from SoCal, so off I went to meet Jean. We had a "Mitch and Vickie" relationship on the forum and I couldn't wait to meet her. Boy, did we have fun! We went to that "big hole in the ground" as she called the Grand Canyon, and I let her talk me into taking the mule ride down the canyon. Now, I've been riding horses my whole life, but it sure didn't prepare me for that ride. Jean, having already done it once, rode behind me snickering the whole way. The next day, she told me that she had made arraingments for us to take an off road ride. Cool! I had my choice of riding a quad or driving a Rhino...drove the Rhino so Jean could ride with me. She was having a great time, enjoying the ride and the scenery...and then I saw it...a huge mud puddle! Aha! Payback time! Just as she said "you're not going thru that, I nailed it! Mud everywhere! Tee Hee! Then we came to a downhill, kind of loose with some pretty good sized rocks...told Jean to tighten her seat belt, this might get hairy! I knew it wasn't that big a deal, but poor Jean held on with both hands and didn't say a word. Later, I found out she had never done any off roading before. That's pretty much why she called me a demented driver...that, and because we went lickety split down the road, me with one hand on the wheel and a foot propped on the side bar. LOL! That same trip on one of the trails going back was when she found the dead cow and wanted the head. It still had skin on it and was still attatched to the body and I told her if she got it, she was walking home.

I saw Jean twice after that, once more at Kaibab on a Motorcycle trip, stopped and had breakfast with her and Beth, and of course last year in Huntsville. No one will ever know how glad I am that I made it back there to see her. I wish I could have done a road trip with her, it would have been a blast! Miss you Miss Sparkle Plenty, say hi to Dave and thank him for letting us have you for as long as we did.

Sitting here with tears rolling down my face and grinning at everyone's memories and stories of Sparkle. Dang took me 5 tries to type her name!!!

I have no doubt that the crash yesterday was Sparkle related. I'm kinda thinking it was her way of having the last word on us ALL DAY!!!

I and Kelly will forever remember Sparkle because she is the reason and was the push for us to start workamping! It was she that got us our very first jobs at the Lodge. She spoke with the owner and told her about us then sent me an email explaining. She practically ordered me to call. Telling me that if we were gonna have to move we might as well move far and good. To call the owner to get the jobs and get off our duffs and start on our dream. Well here we are! Thanks to Sparkle.....

Will miss her dry, quirky sometimes peculiar sense of humor. And her crunching on raw carrots!!!

You can just bet that she's now camping on the very best beach there is with the most perfect weather imaginable smirking at the waves licking at her tires because they aren't gonna catch her this time. And that extra spark in the sky is even brighter now and running as free and having as much fun as heavenly possible. As only Sparkle could and does.

My heart, prayers and thoughts to all her Sistahs, friends, family and people whom she touched in life. Especially to you Beth and Sarah as I know how much you love her.

Shine on Sparkle, peace

Well, it took me a while, but I found the post about my visit with Jean at Kaibab. Some of the pictures are missing, guess Jean edited them from PB, but the narrative is still there and hilarious. If you're interested, take a peek...read the whole thing, (2 pages) especially about the skunk! (yes, there was bourbon involved!)

When Jean was banned from that forum - for no good reason, they also removed all her pics. I'm surprised they didn't remove all her posts. Jean has got to be laughing about that from above right now.

For those who haven't seen these pictures. Someone else will have to tell the full story, although the pictures do a darn good job!

The story is here somewhere - but to make it short - Jean LOVED boondocking in Port Aransas. Did it years ago with her husband, and did it herself. It's safe there lots of times - but you always have to watch for high tides. Jean was even warned about the storm bringing in a high tide on this occasion. She was sure she could ride it out. Got up in the morning, and the water was up over her step :)

Yes, she got herself out. And the next winter, there she went again. That time I was workamping in Port Aransas, and she didn't have trouble with tides, but the winds started up and the sand was shifting, and her rig got less and less level. Her locking on her hitch rusted closed - she actually let me get help for her to cut that off, and next thing I knew, she had a site in the park I was at :)

She absolutely loved when I told her about Port Lavaca - she could park on the beach and no tides :)

One of the first pictures I remember Sparkle posting was of herself in her new flannel flamingo pajamas and a haircut that she hated because it was too short! And then there was the story about the neked Native American at the campground in SD when she was working camping! What a crazy unique lovable lady!

Am sitting here in my wine stupor, crying and laughing as I remember all the stories of Sparkle....( I really should be in bed...oh how I"ll regret it tomorrow..  )

My stories of Jean are just a couple and very short.....

At one time she took this beautiful photo of a white Peacock...and I asked her if my SIL could use it for a blog...but the SIL wanted to give her credit for the photo...so I asked her for her proper name....she PM'd me back stating that it (her name) was so " plain Jane" like...so if credit was to be given just label it "Sparkle the crazy lady with a RV"....we laughed and labeled it " sparkling white"...

I have photos on a CD of Sparkle, Beth, Kelpie, the Sultan, & me at campers Friday night GTG at Port A....Line dancing....she sure could kick up her heals dancing...had a great time...We had Strawberry Daiquiris that night... She had a glass that would light up...what a Hoot!!!

Will miss you, lady....She's the only one here who knew the history of my given name, Lorna.....and other than my Dad...called me "Doone"....(Scottish book titled. .."Lorna Doone")....

She also Pm;d me about becoming a Grandma for the 1st time...asking what was proper to send to one's 1st grandchild...I told her to ask what was needed, and to send that....also, spoiling was the right of a Grandma....

Okay, off to bed....my crops on FV will just have to wilt....

I have been able to spend some time with Sparkle a couple of different times.. and so treasure those times...
I think (but maybe she said that to everyone) that we were the first to hear how she was hired by a ........house...
what a fun Sparkle story..
I loved that photo of the white peacock...I would have loved to been following along as she found the best camping sites.
she will be missed
my prayers go out for her family and those that love her best

I'm sure it was Sparkle crashing the forum, and she was laughing about it all day.
Remember the stretch in time when no one could get a pic of her without her
hand in front of her face? She was SO quick with that hand!

That was such a fun visit

Remember when she spun out in the snow and wrecked her new trailer. She didn't really
know she wrecked it, until some officer stopped her and told her she was dragging
something. She spun totally around and ended up going the opposite way. She was
trying to get to a workamping job. Then as the days went by she discovered the damage
and then she had to wait it out for the insurance
check and get another trailer. We were all mortified when that happened.
