We get some beautiful color in So. California -- it's usually a month to 6 weeks behind everyone else.
The red leaves are a liquidamber tree (that's the correct spelling). The dark purple are from decorative plums, I believe. We also get pretty yellows from aspens.
I lived in Minnesota for 3 years, Barbie. The seasons were beautiful. But 6 months of snow was a bit much for this California kid. I'll take the few colors we have, knowing that if I need a more colorful "fix" I can go to the mountains or northern CA & see plenty.
As for the snow ... I see Mt. Baldy from my classroom desk every day, and it's beautiful.
Tomorrow I'm going to the beach to see a Christmas boat parade. It's supposed to be 80 degrees here tomorrow. Not too shabby!
