Barbie, that must have been hard - no cookie dough OR milk! But at least you're getting along good with your Dad (for the moment), you have a box of candy, and now you're stocked up with your comfort foods! Did your furry friends make you smile at least (probably just sucking up to you to get some milk or cookies!)

Hope you're feeling better. I know I keep saying this, and it just doesn't seem to happen, but Spring IS on its way!

Barbie, just doing some catching up.....Things happen for a reason and in my life I've found they were for the "best" not at the time it seemed but sure enough came that light of "Hey".. The sistahs here are so supportive and gone through loads of ups and downs..and we all share our concerns and warm feelings...

As for not getting to the RV show...yep.. like Vickie says, "there's lots of them" and maybe it would have been a wrong move for you too... like putting you really into a deeper sadness... and being by yourself it's not really a good thing..

So here you are with all of us lurking and reading all our saga too...See..you aren't alone..and with that boyfriend..well, you most likely lucked out..You'll find your soul mate..from reading you have lots of goodness.

And..starting off on a small rig.. (that's how I did my first number) I bought a TT and it was only 16ft..yep it was the cat's meow for me.. and I loved it..and I had so many friends..pack in.. yes..it was like a commercial with everyone filling up the empty spots.. gawd like a phone booth..but you know it gave me years of fun..and no headaches and I was FREE as a bird..LOL

OH, by the way.. I didn't get a chance to say.."Welcome"...but you sure do fit in..

So...hang in their ..and enjoy all the adventures that will come your way..

God Bless

They always make me smile! They are my therapy pets. I suffer from mild depression and they have gotten me thru some rough times. And yes, they definately suck up to get milk and cookies! They love them! Beg, beg, beg!  They don't get any chocolate chips tho, just cookie, and then they take turns licking the milk out of the glass when I am done.

Cute ferret pic, Mitch! I haven't seen that one before. Those two look a lot like my Buster and Moxy!

Thanks everyone for your kind words and support. It is nice to know that people who haven't even met me, can be so caring and supportive!

Barbie,
Sounds like things were tough for you this week. Like the others, I hope things just look UP UP UP for you now.

As to the rv - I got small, used, and didn't have anyone else deciding what I should have/ or do. So to heck with him - you'll do this just fine without him. Meantime - just take one day at a time - and get through winter.

Barb, when I started looking for a rv, I didn't know enough to ask an intelligent question. I spent a lot of time on the computer at rv.net and also search rv trader on line. RV Trader will give you some idea of whats out there and how much they cost. Have fun.

Barbie...I think this winter has put just about all Mid-westerners in a major funk. I can't remember when I have ever been so depressed and lethargic....most of my friends are in the same boat. Going to work in the dark and cold temps is a major factor plus being inside all day. We haven't had a decent weekend in over a month. I was so looking forward to a three day weekend...friend and I were going to go on a stock up shopping trip on Saturday morning only to wake up to snow....decided we would wait until today. Did get a chance to go out for supper on Saturday night because it's less than a half mile to the steak house....the only time I've been out of the house since I came home from work Friday. Yesterday it was snowing and blowing and today just blowing...any school that was going to be in session was closed....they're all starting two hours late tomorrow. Talked to my neighbor tonight and she hasn't been out of her pajamas since Saturday..glad to know that I'm not the only person who is having trouble motivating...she was impressed that I actually put on my sweats and a bra! Usually if I'm cooped up in the house I clean a closet or something...this winter nada...the house is a mess and I don't care...have a whole box of books that I've been anxious to read but can't even find one that keeps me interested through the first chapter...that's not normal because usually I'm the one who can't seem to turn off the light until I finish just one more chapter. Sleeping (hibernating) has turned into my favorite past time.
My mind works like lightning...one brilliant flash and it's gone.

That's exactly how I feel! Just no motivation for anything! I think they call that 'cabin fever'. And I got it bad! I just returned a bunch of books to the library because I couldn't get into any of them. So not like me! Glad to know it isn't just me (not that I want anyone else feeling like this, but at least I am in good company!)

(((((((((((((((((((((((((((((Barbie)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

hang in there, gf. I've been having a tough time, myself. I still have BOTH my parents and daddy is about to drive me over the edge! I hate myself for the way I feel...wishing I could already be gone and out on my own. So,, the beat goes on. I just have to pray for God's guidance and that He will give me the strength to get thru this w/ enough strength to enjoy my life when it is AGAIN, mine! It's so exasperating at times! I just wish I had my RV now and could make little weekend jaunts. But anyway,,

just wanted to say I FEEL YOUR PAIN!! we will hold each other up in this time of need,, w/ all the other girl's encouragement

Love you all!

Janet, is there anyone around who can give you occasional relief from caregiving?
Sounds like you really need a break. Maybe some sort of Eldercare group?
Gotta take care of yourself, as I'm sure you know!
And, don't be too hard on yourself - what you're doing is an incredibly difficult task.

Stay strong! Maybe not this strong, but you know what I mean...

(Mitch, that is just grotesque! I don't even like men who look like that! )

Janet, I took care of my mom for several years without my brothers' help. It can be very frustrating and exhausting (and she was in a nursing home!) I just spent a lot of time with her and doctors, meetings with staff, more doctors, hospitals, problems, mis-diagnosis, mis-medicated, etc.. I can't imagine how difficult it would be to take care of both parents at the same time. I remember when my dad had a stroke, I told him he isn't allowed to get sick, since I can only take care of one parent at a time! Luckily, he made a quick and full recovery!
I actually had one morning when I got a call from the nursing home that my mom was being taking by ambulence to the hospital because of severe chest pains so I was just getting ready to head down there, when the phone rang again and it was a lady from my dad's church saying my dad had collapsed at church and was being rushed to the hospital. I assumed they were both going to the same hospital but when I got there, it turned out they took my mom to a different one (on the other side of town). So I drove up and spent the day with my mom at her hospital and my brothers stayed with my dad at the other hospital and we just kept in touch by cell phone all day. Luckily, again, my dad was released later that day. My mom was sent home a few days later. But it was a very stressful day to say the least!!!
You should look into getting some help or respite care, so you can get a break (emotionally and physically).
