My Mom passed in 2004 of ALS/Lou Gehrig's. A few months later I had a dream of her in a room, that looked like a living room of a house, standing in front of a floor to ceiling picture window with sheer curtains over it, I could see people walking around outside. Inside there were people standing around talking, sorta like a meet and greet thing. One blonde girl was talking to my Mom and I heard my Mom say oh, my daughter's name is Vickie too, Vickie Dianne, and the girl replied that was her name too. I hadn't thought about this in many years, but back in 1978 I dated a guy that had a sister named Vickie Diane who had been killed by her estranged husband. I knew it was her and she welcomed my Mother to Heaven, cool huh.

What a wonderful dream Vickie. You will never forget it. When my Grandmother was dying in hospital she watched a "parade" of people crossing the ceiling. She would nod, smile and wave to different people as she followed with her eyes from one corner of the ceiling to the other. Finally her smile faded and she looked at the corner where they had been coming from and then at the corner where they had gone. She started to try to get out of bed to follow them. She died the next day.

The late, great Elisabeth Kubler-Ross (who wrote "On Death and Dying," and pioneered the concept of the five stages of grief) wrote a beautiful book called "Life After Death." After sitting at the bedsides of hundreds of dying people, she believed that no one died alone. We are always greeted by those we love who passed before us.

In the book, she told a story of a Native American woman who was struck by a car. A passer-by ran to her side. As she was dying she said to the man, "Tell my mother it's all right. Daddy's here." The man sought out the mother, and when he relayed the daughter's message, she collapsed in grief and disbelief. It turned out that the father had died of a heart attack an hour before his daughter was killed. The daughter didn't know about it ... yet she knew her father was there to help her cross over.

For the last few years I have taken a class in Hypnosis/Metaphysical and it has been a real eye opener. So many people have related encounters (and not while they were in hypnosis) with people who have passed that I now believe there is an after life. I don't know what type of life it is, maybe it is just another dimension sort of parallel with this one an only a few people can 'see' both sides. A relative of mine says she sees her husband (who passed about ten years ago) in her house & that he calls her name and shakes her awake every morning. When it first started happening she was afraid she was loosing it, then she was annoyed at being awakened now she just seems accepting. I tell her she is special and that in the class I go to she would find her experience not that unusual.
I used to have dreams about a person that I was in a relationship with for sometime and I would find out later that they were true. We didn't have contact but had a mutual friend, I would tell her what I had dreamed and she would confirm that it was fact. I am a lot more open minded than I used to be!
I've also had some unusual ESP experiences, my funniest was one day I 'knew" a friend who lives in California had unprotected sex. I called her and she said OH I knew you would know. She told the guy about my call and instead of him saying how could she have know that, he said don't you think that is awfully motherly of her?!

I see dead people, too ... but I never talk about it (oh, wait ...). But not very often.

What happens mostly with me is that voices warn me, or I get strong impressions. I've talked here (I think) about what happened when I ignored one particular voice ... but I haven't talked about the impressions. A good example: A couple of years ago, I was volunteering in Idaho. I took my little dog for a walk up a logging road. All of a sudden, I got a strong impression of a cougar. I NEVER think about cougars. So I turned around and got my little hors d'oeuvre (and the entrée!) out of there.

Two days later, I was driving with the ranger, and he pointed to a trailhead about 1/2 mile from my rig. He said, "Don't go up that trail." I said, "Why not?" He replied, "There's a cougar up there." My first thought? "Thank you for the confirmation." My second thought? "You're too old ... cougars only like men in their 20s." (No, not really on the 2nd one!)

Lots of times, if I get an impression and change my plans or behavior, I never know if there was tragedy averted. I just pay attention these days.

Many years ago my mother often talked about a woman that she worked with, name of Maggie. The woman died and my mother was quite upset as she thought a lot of her. Three days later, I felt a tug at the end of my sweater, nobody was in the house. I looked over my shoulder, then down. There was a whoosh sensation and I thought, oh Maggie's gone. When my mother came home I told her, and how strange it was that I had looked down. She gasped and told me that Maggie was a dwarf and that she had never told us becuase she thought we would laugh.

About 6 months or a year after Jack passed I went to a highly recommended psychic in Studio City, she didn't know my last name or anything about me. What a reading! She knew things about Jack, his family and even what Jack used to call me...don't think anyone knew that. Anyway, long story short, all of a sudden the back of her head started itching like crazy. Jack had really dry skin and used to pull his cap off and scratch the back of his head. I didn't think to much of it at the time (needless to say I spent almost the whole session either crying or laughing), but a few weeks later I started to do something really stupid and the back of my head started itching like mad. Hit me that he was there telling me not to be a dumb sh$t and do it right. Now when it happens, I just say "Yeah, yeah, yeah, I hear ya babe". Usually happens when I'm not sure of something or starting to do something stupid, altho sometimes he just lets me go ahead and do it.....guess he's trying to teach me a lesson or something. Then I yell at him....LOL! Today's his birthday....I was going to go to the cemetary and take flowers but the back of my head started itching......he already told me thru the psychic that he's not there and I didn't need to go there, so guess he has other plans for me today. 'Course at that time I was going almost every day. Now I just go on important days. One time I went to the cemetary to take flowers, but only took one bunch for him. Put them in the vase and my head went nuts it itched so bad, then I realized I hadn't brought flowers for his mom and dad...oops! I said "yeah, yeah, yeah alright already!" So I split the bunch 3 ways and guess that made him happy, head was fine. Sorry to ramble, guess I'm a little down today. Sure do miss that guy...

Janice, that is why I love the Metaphysical class so many people have strange things happen and they are afraid to talk about it to their friends. When they come to class they realize most of us there have experienced the out of the ordinary.
