Oh Janice, I'm so jealous. I asked about new floors when i bought Somewhere and the dealer said no can do so I called Winnebago and they also said no can do. Has something with how the slides operate. Not wanting to chance problems I have opted for not doing them. I hate the lite carpet in mine. Guess I'll see how it goes. I am happy for you. Sounds like good investment though.

Thanks everyone for sharing my excitement. I went to a girlfriend's house for the first time yesterday,
and she has the same laminate installed in her kitchen. Looks really good there, too!

I'll go over to the shop tomorrow and take a picture of the floors to post here. :)

Congrats on the new floor.
A friend of mine just had it installed in her den and she loves it. Dogs are still adjusting however.

I'm thinking I'll have to bring the dogs' beds (since they won't be just sleeping on the carpet anymore).

Just a word of caution. I had laminate floors in our Alaskan home and although it beautiful, it's very, very slippery!

That's the reason I had them give me thick rubber treads on the stairs coming in. To avoid slippage inside, I'm gonna get some rugs (also to keep my tootsies warmer). If the rugs don't have rubber backing, I'll get the slip-free pads.

Don't ya just hate that nasty old CRS? Pops up almost everytime I open my mouth or plan on doing something. Which is why I'm making my 3rd trip to Wallyworld today since I've been gone....'Course 2 of the trips were on the same day at the Tn GTG.

Congrats on new flooring. You should love the new look and ease of cleaning! We put laminate in our whole house (then moved and rented it out, did that on purpose so renters wouldn't destroy carpeting). 2 points of warning:

1. It's such a hard surface that it can become very slick (even if it has a an extremely rough texture). Be very careful walking around in sock feet, slick soled or wet shoes and pets will have a devil of a time getting thier footing. It's rather like a counter top...that hard! Our dog had to learn to walk very slowly and make corners without skidding. Until he did so he fell a lot not a good thing for an old dog! Therefore put down throw rugs with rug grippers in the traffic areas. I know they say it's scratch resistant but after a month in the house with laminate -- even though the dog learned to slow down -- it still showed toe nail scratches and will in time also show scratches from chairs, etc. The shiny or satin finish will also show dog slobbers, foot prints worse than I thought it would ...(really distressed me). I thought it would be better... The ease is in the easy cleaning! A small vacuum will pick up dust and pet hair very nicely and a damp mopping will do a fabulous job of keeping it looking great. I was dismayed I'd need to do that so often! But, despite that -- sure beats the dirt, odor and moisture holding properties of carpeting! I'll never own wall to wall carpet again!

2. The second and very important issue is the smell from out gassing chemicals used to manufacture the product! As I said we installed laminate in our whole house -- it stunk to high heaven (a little over a year ago)! Every brand has it's own distinctive stench! Even if you can't smell a bad odor and especially in such a small space as an RV -- be sure to keep windows open, ventilate with fans to air it out every day for the 1st few weeks or longer! Trapped chemical gasses can be harmful so be careful. Take special care if you have allergies or breathing issues! If the RV is closed up for a time and you are out, when you come back you'll find out how bad it smells. Remember the problem with folks getting sick from living in the trailers supplied by FEMA for the Katrina storm -- about the same thing -- out gassing from manufactured fiber board. The stores will tell you thier product is safe and they may indeed meet "safe" levels of out gassing from manufactured fiber products. Just take care of yourself -- air out often and don't spend a lot of time indoors with it shut up tight especially in the 1st few weeks. Manufacturers have deleted formaldahyde from the production list but other chemicals smell as bad or worse.

For those 2 reasons -- our new house will have naturally oiled fir flooring!

Congrats on getting rid of your carpet-thinking of sending all the bills for cleaning supplies and labor costs to Fleetwood re putting in carpet in any mh unless specifically requested (probably a guy)  On my last mh, we had linoleum that looked just like hardwood. People had to feel it to believe me, just like Carol's Jennie. In fact, we got a call from the people that bought it and that was the deal breaker. Can't believe that your Forum sisters aren't on your mind all the time with pics, pics, pics swimming thru your brain  carold

A thousand thank yous for the info on the flooring.. just another thing to add to my wannabe think list.

I happen to be a fan of carpet, for all the reasons that were mentioned on the negative side of the laminate /hard surface flooring. Right now, with the parents, they have really thick carpeting, which, at this point is not exactly pristene... but for safety sake, I just keep shampooing and leave it down. They fall a lot and woulda broken numerous bones if this padding was not there. I also know,, that my old bones are much happier on a soft surface rather than a hard one. Being a hairdresser for almost 40 yrs. I know the aches of standing on hard surfaces. I also like the coziness of carpet vs. the hard flooring. I will just probably, for me, plan to change out the carpet as often as I can.. and have a color that doesn't show the dirt. I am blessed not to have allergies so...me and the doggies will be comfy and cozy. I love the look of the hard flooring, but I grew up on hardwood floors in Dallas,, (not even up north) and i remember , ONLY too well, the cold mornings putting my bare feet on the cold wood floors on my way to the pottie.

Just saying......... ;) oh! a suggestion... have you gals seen the HGTV or DIY shows when they talk about cork flooring. IT's slick, resembles wood but is cushiony to the feet... now THAT"S an idea! and it's PRETTY!

LOVE YA"LL...
