I did same or Walmart and no extra fee.

Hi Velda.

LOL. I don't know where you are looking either.

Maybe because I'm not going out into stores looking for a gift card is the reason I am seeing a fee, because I am just shopping for a card online.

Or maybe we somehow don't have the same level of Amazon "benefits" (yes, I do have Amazon Prime). Or (possible with the way computers can track things these days) maybe the fee - or the lack of one - is based on the area where one lives? :?

Here is what I found searching for a Visa gift card on amazon:

What can I say? I took this card all the way to check-out, it still showed the $4.95 fee. This Walmart link shows a fee for a Visa gift card (a $25.00 gift card selling for $28.44):

I didn't take the Walmart one all the way to check-out, I just took their word for it. Walmart never lies. At least not much.

I guess Judy also found a fee for a Visa card at Target, so chose the Target card instead, because it didn't have a fee.

So who knows? Obviously, the fee - or lack of one - is not the same for everyone across the board.

I did some research and ask a couple of questions at Target. Here is the info I got re gift cards.

- If you buy a gift card to use at a particular place, such as a Target gift card that is only good at Target, or an Amazon gift card that is only good at Amazon, there is no extra cost. A $25 card costs exactly $25. I have always bought only this type of card and have never paid a fee. I have been routinely buying Amazon gift cards for my grandkids as they are getting old enough to be almost impossible to buy for--never paid a fee and in fact when I buy an electronic card, I can get a free animated card to go along with it.

- However, if you buy a Visa or Mastercard gift card at Target (and apparently through Amazon) that is good anywhere VIsa or Mastercard is accepted, there is a fee, usually $2 - $4. I have never bought this type of card so never paid a fee.

I asked at Target because they had two different racks and that is the answer I received. The good news is that everyone who posted is right because they have been buying different kinds of cards!
