Sorry to hear such sad news Sparkle, hope she is not dying and just got into something instead . Our prayers are with you.

Sparkle, hope you get to feeling better soon. Yes, Theraflu is good stuff. Always works for me. Those Thera Flu strips are good during the day and don't make you all fuzzy. Certainly has to be doubly misearable going through this with your fur baby on the road to rainbow bridge. My thoughts are with you.
{{{{{{HUG}}}}}}}} take care of you.

HUGE HUGS here from me, Sparkle, and comforting licks from Molly and my 21-year-old Twitch cat, who is not far from his final breaths, either. Please, in spite of the stress of Shona, take care of yourself, too. Don't let yourself get any sicker. As others have said, your just being there for Shona is all she could ever want as she slips away. I can only hope to have such a comfort when I have to leave this earth.

I just wish someone could be there with you for support. 19 years is a long time for a kitty, and you have provided her with such a wonderful life. Be at peace with yourself.

But not complacent! Get thee to a doctor, if you need one!

The animals seem to know and accept when it's their time. I'm sure she'll appreciate the time you spend stroking her, and she'll say goodbye to you in her own way. Take care of yourself too. I think your idea of taking her to the state park is a good one. You'll be able to imagine her there during her happy times.

She's still with me. I hope she makes it to Monte Sano. I'd like for her to sit outside and know she's back to her favorite spot. When I broke the bones in my foot I had to stay there for four months, so she got to know it well.

My heart goes out to you at the thought of losing Shona. It is heartbreaking when we lose a furbaby. 19yrs is a good long time and to think of all the love that the two of you have shared. And of course all the places that she has went to and seen.

I'm hoping that she will make it to her favorite place and can lay outside. If it works out that she passes before you get there or that she passes while there, I think it's a wonderful loving tribute to her that you want her to have her final spot in the park.

I have a spare shoulder if you need it. Lots of love and {{{{{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}}}} to all three of you. As I know Bogie will feel this too.

I'm so sorry, Sparkle. I know what it's like to lose an old (23) feline friend. It's really hard to lose our furry family members. Their only goal in life is to give love and devotion to us and we always wish we could do more to keep them around. Add my big hug to all the others.

I'm pretty sure Shona is gone. We arrived at Monte Sano at 3.30 yesterday. Got in my favorite spot. We have probably lived there for a year all told. I had to stay for a 4 month stretch when I broke my foot. Anyway, Bogie knew it right away. He couldn't wait to go on his favorite walk. I put Shona on the picnic table and she looked around with interest. Then strolled slowly off into the woods. I haven't seen her since. This is a cat that has traveled with me for 3 years, been allowed out at every campsite and never got lost. I like to think she found a sunny spot, lay down to sleep and never woke up. She was pretty much gone anyway. She felt as though she weighed 6oz. I'm glad she made it to Monte Sano...she'll always be here.

Sparkle - I know your heart is aching and I'm so sorry. I believe our furry friends really would prefer to go off on their own to die. They almost feel obligated to hang in there when we are with them. When my 23-year-old cat was failing, I kept finding her across the brook and into the woods behind my house. I kept bringing her back to be comfortable in the nice soft bed I had made for her. She couldn't even stand up on her own, but next day she would be gone and I'd find her across the brook. How she even made it across is beyond me, but the third time I brought her back, I called my best friend to take her to the vet's. She put Sooti in a carton and the minute she closed the top of the box, the cat died. She just didn't want to go with me holding her or hovering. She wanted to be alone. Who says our pets don't feel emotions?

I'm sure you are right about Shona. She went the way she wanted to in a place she loved. What more could we ask?

I'm not surprised to hear that Shona wandered off to the woods to die...I had a cat do that once and a neighbor found her body the next day. I'm so glad for you that you made it to Monte Sano, and that she had a chance to lay in her favorite spot and choose her final resting place. You will miss her I know, and so will Bogie. Take him on many walks. ((((Hugs to you.))))
