Velda, keeping you and precious hubby close in thought and prayer. Hugs, my friend!

Thank you everyone. I have a few more things to pick up, then it's pack the van and be ready to head over to UCD Sunday afternoon. Mel is so worried about Stormy, who had surgery this week on her neck and her rear. She is certainly eating well, being hand fed bite so chicken and steak!! But with e collar that has to stay for two weeks, we sure hope son Chris can handle it all. I don't need Mel going into surgery with worries. Sure hope this goes well and he is home sooner than expected. I'm thinking Thursday maybe. Its easier on his diabetes when he can do his own food. Let's see how many nurses I can get in hot water this time! I will probably be there at bedside from 9 in the morning until 10 at night making sure they don't mess up his blood sugar again.

Velda, can you bring along his vitamix and surprise him with a smoothie at some point? I drink them every day too and know I'd miss them something fierce if I was in the hospital.

I will have the VitaMix, but with a 4 cu ft fridge I barely have enough room for my own food. That and with his severe type one diabetes he has to count every carb so a surprise smoothie won't be in my plans. He drinks a type of smoothie 3 times a days at home anyhow so it's no longer really a treat. He can chew fairly well but his swallowing is affected by the previous surgery and radiaton so food made liquid works best for him. he has adapted better than I would given his circumstances. It's kind of amusing in that for years he has done stuff like mix his ice cream and cake in a glass of milk instead of eating the cake and ice cream and drinking the milk, and made comments like it all goes to the same place as,to food mixing. Be careful what you wish for, as now all his food is mixed into a drink.

I didn't realize it was for swallowing difficulties. I drink mine to try and consume more veggies. :)
