Andi, my bad for not explaining about seeing the Veloster on the road...they were not being towed. They were just flying down the road!

I looked at and passed over a dolly after doing a trip with a couple who did dolly their PT Cruiser. They had to park the dolly somewhere which meant manually moving it to it's parking place in their site. No way could I roll a dolly anywhere. They were lusting after my relatively quick unhooking.

My HHR has about 110,000 miles. I bought it with less than 40,000 miles in 2011. I also towed a Ford Edge. That was really nice car....but, the gas mileage was only about 2/3 of what I get with the HHR. Also, I carry a lot of garbage in the car because it has a lot of space. Having said that the Honda Fit has more space in it than you think.

One other to consider, when towing a vehicle, it will get some damage from rocks. You might want some kind of protection from throwing rocks.

I have more dings and chips. But I also have traveled more gravel roads than most. It's also one reason I bought used. Love my pos 2004 Chevy Cavalier. I don't put nearly the mileage on that Birdie does, but that's going to be all in how you travel.

As to some of the pains of using a dolly, one of my friends with one added a tow hitch to the car to be able to move the dolly around. She also has not been able to stay in a few cg's because she couldn't put the dolly on the grass and couldn't fit it and the car and the rig on the area allowed. After the hitch, she could. She had to unhook, drive the car off, use the car to move the dolly to the end of the site, back the rig in over the dolly, then move the car in. If/when she ever replaces this car, she'll tow 4 down.

And I know some like them, but I honestly think the main reason is because then they can have any car if the weight is right.
