Thanks everyone. Karen good idea on humane society, I will give them a call. Mel prepares his own meals from the carefully thought out food I fix for our son and I, my biggest problem leaving him more than a hour or two is his risk of falls and ESP his very labile diabetes in spite of insulin pump and continuous glucose monitor he still gets low and at night sometimes does not hear it buzz either the sound or the vibration, but I sure do. his diabetes has been a big challenge since he acquired it in 89 with a reaction during neck surgery to the steroid drug Decadron given to reduce swelling. He has fought hard to control it and proudly he can say, his eye Dr says he still has almost no visible damage to his retinas and he has never had a foot ulcer and his kidneys are still normal, all attributed to his and my being so diligent even though his body acts so weird with wild swings. He recovered from the surgery in June 13 so quickly because he consumes such a high nutrient diet, even though it now must be puréed.
