Thanks for the update, Vickie.....and yet another wait time to endure for us all. Why, oh why, oh why, can they not look at a specimen under a microscope immediately and tell what's up with the lymph nodes???? I do not, simply do NOT see why they could not do that, and then, while the patient is still open, remove more tissue if needed. Using a microscope is a piece of cake any 4th grader could do. I can't believe they need to "grow" or "culture" anything for a week before analyzing the tissue. Waits like this are actually much more stressful and agonizing than most procedures, I have determined, at least in my own cases. Perhaps they need to hire thousands more analyzers so the waits can be eliminated-----faster healing and more mouths fed with more jobs provided. Sigh.
But, anyway, of course we are all hoping for clear results and a speedy recovery for Mitch. Thank heavens the surgery went well and Mitch is awake and cognitive and might actually go home tomorrow! Many fewer germs at one's own home, and the familiarity of one's own surroundings have been known to speed recovery. It took them many years to realize this, and now they are acting on it. Thank heavens for Phyllis for being able to be there so she can go home. I hope they send her with a satchel full of all sorts of pain pills and heavy-duty drugs of all sorts! A sip of wine and a few licks from Abby won't hurt, either!
I'm not usually a wine drinker, but I do believe I have a bag in my refrigerator that I may open and have a toast to Mitch right now! Stay in touch as best as possible, but get lots of rest and recoup!
