Had a busy busy day today....took Chewy on our pack walk this morning about 7:30, worked on her obedience commands, then we both had breakfast and then it was off to school for grandparents day. What fun! I toured the classroom with Alyssa, did some drawing, then we went to chapel, then to a book sale in the library, then we painted a tile for each other as a remembrance of the day, then we played jeopardy and then it was off to LeMcDonalds for a gourmet lunch! Got home in time to walk Chewy again, a few minutes on obedience, then Miss Evie (Pooker) showed up (and of course Chewy had to strut her stuff for Evie who was properly impressed!), introduced Evie to Peewee (she politely declined a ride in him) and we were off and running to the casino for Friday nite seafood buffet and a little fun on the machines. Boy, did we stuff ourselves at the buffet! Evie came out about a dollar ahead and I came out about even. WHEW! What a day! Now I'm ready for a few minutes in the hot tub since Chewy has collapsed in her bed from all the stress of having to watch the house and keep Sam out of trouble all day! Poor thing! Hope everyone's day was as fun as mine was!

I generally don't do campfires, don't enjoy the smoke, but I guess this one isn't a problem. A soak in the hot tub sounds wonderful. Kinda chilly tonight after a very nice springlike day.
I'm typing this on my new 'puter! SO far, so good. I couldn't get Comcast cable internet to go but called on a neighbor and he just reset the modem, plugged it in and my new computer just ran with it! Pretty neat. I was fearing all the set up crapola. So far the only glitch, and I knew it was coming, was/is getting Quicken to co-operate. Such a pain, but it's wonderful when it's running. Just a PITA to try transferring back up data back on.
I played Farmville and YoVille and couldn't believe how fast stuff loaded. It was taking me forever to play those games before! Watch out Facebook!
Ok, need to go pay attention to my furbaby. He's been so good all day after being home alone for most of it.

Too late to post on the morning coffee thread so I will just sit here by the fire for awhile. Need some quiet time to contemplate... My 21 year old nephew was recently diagnosed with cancer. I just found out tonight more details. It is called Alveolar Soft Tissue Sarcoma. It is a very rare but very aggressive cancer that starts out as a tumor on the surface of the lower body, but can quickly spread via the bloodstream to the lungs and/or brain. He goes in tomorrow for a PET scan to see if it has spread or not yet. Then next week, he goes in to remove the rest of the area where the tumor was located, and then start radiation. Even if they get it all now, the chances are high for it to return many years later in the lungs and/or brain. Such a sad thing. So I need to kick back tonight, and say a lot of prayers for him. Also found out his step-sister has pre-cancerous cells in her cervix that the doctors are keeping a close eye on. I feel very fortunate that I am healthy! Now for the chocolate chip cookies I just made....

Awww, Barbie, so sorry for the news on your nephew. Sure hope it's not as bad as they think and that there's a good outcome. Such a young man, too. Big hug for you and prayers for your family. Take care, hun.

just thought I'd come by and sit at the campfire and just mull over things in
my head as I watch the flames dance around. It was an absolutely great day,
I did some work outside and some inside too. Got extra laundry done up, my
blankets from the bed really needed it, and since I don't hang those items, I
took them to the laundry room to use the dryer. Cleaned some walls and I
took the vacuam apart and cleaned it inside and out. Also cleaned up the
electric heater and packed it away for summer. Seems like I did alot but it
doesn't feel like it, I'm still thinking of stuff that I could do. I had a few
moments of anger today, but I'm over it. Once a year the park brings in
a big rolloff dumpster for big stuff to go in and every year I've missed it.
So this year I've been watching for it and it showed up last weekend. I
put my two big items out front for maintenance to pick up. It sat out there
all week and its still out there! When I went to the laundry room, I noticed
the big rolloff was gone! Why didn't maintenance pick up my stuff, grrrrrr.
Guess I'll drag it back behind the shed and wait till next time. If I get really
really angry, I'll get my saw out and hack it up and put it in the regular
dumpster, but thats gonna have to be a day I get really pist off over
something. otherwise, its just too much work and I don't like the
noise that comes from the electric saw. I also noticed they changed trash
days and didn't tell me, one of the residents said everyone got a memo,
but I said, "guess I didn't get that memo" although I like the new trash
days, they make more sense but still, why didn't I get a memo?
Well, lets see, what else is on my mind? I think a glass of wine would do
me real nice, maybe two since their small. :D
Stirring the fire and tossing in another log.

lots of good things today, I think I just might be getting that special ed route,
they asked me to go with the driver this afternoon and said they would cover my
regular route. They just might hand me the route and not post it, thats been known
to happen before. Then they will post mine. We will see what happens tomorrow.
If I get the special ed route, they will let me do mine one last time to say good
bye to kids and parents.
Then my friend that does yard sales came in and asked me to follow him to his
truck, he had it full of boxes of yarn he picked up over the weekend. There are
seven large boxes of yarn, he said they came from two places. I went through it,
there is so much of good stuff, not just bits and pieces of this and that. Will
definately be able to do something with this yarn. I know what I'll be doing this
weekend, sorting and repacking yarn. Good thing I have two large empty tubs
out in the shed. Ok, so I feel like a kid at christmas. So much for my clean
livingroom, at least I enjoyed it for a few days. Will get it all put away
next weekend.
Tossing on another log enjoying the fire and have a tall glass of icewater.

That job sounds promising for ya, Ava. And WOW to getting all that yarn, now you'll have all sorts of projects going. Maybe even selling some! You could make a snuggie for your 5er!

We went campground looking today. Just checking out some different ones in the nearby area to see what they were like, but didn't find any that would work for us. It still was good to get out and enjoy the sunshine.

Good luck with that job Ava!

Great night for a campfire! Today was 60 degrees! Yesterday, it got to 63, but I spent the day doing laundry and didn't even realize how nice it was outside! I took off some plastic from my porch windows yesterday morning to air it out some. The rivers nearby are flooding now because the snow and ice has been melting so fast, plus ice jams causing more flooding.

This evening my nephew, Jeff, came into the salon for a haircut. He seemed to be in good spirits but said he is very nervous. Tomorrow, he goes in to have the rest of the tumor removed plus surrrounding tissue. He will start radiation in a few weeks. Later, my brother (his dad) came in for a haircut too. He said that Jeff can't have any pain meds after surgery because of his previous heroine addiction. All he can take is Tylenol. Bummer!

I also found out tonight that a woman who was like a second mom to me, died this weekend. I feel really bad because I drive past her house almost every day and have been "meaning" to stop in to see her. I haven't seen her for many years. I wish I had listened to my intuition recently which was urging me to stop there. Her memorial service is next Saturday. I haven't seen two of her daughters (who were like my sisters) since their dad died many years ago, altho, I did see one of them last month, who came in for a haircut. For several years, while my parents were going thru a long, bitter divorce, they took me in and and took care of me. Mary called me her "adopted daughter". Some of my best memories are from those years. They lived on an apple orchard which was a lot of fun for us girls! Lots of reminiscing to be done this week!

Just finished my evening chocolate chip/oatmeal cookies. SO delicious! (had to share with Moxy! He doesn't get any chips tho).

Have a good night!

those relationships are so good to have regardless of the reason! it was good that you had them in that time of your life....and sorry to hear about her death don't we hate it when we keep meaning to do something and don't then it's too late??? but don't beat your self up enjoy the memorial and the memories then reconnect with the "sisters"
Did you look at the stars tonight? so pretty and so many

unwinding and getting ready for bed, will be meeting up with Amy (LadyHawk) after
my morning run to have breakfast, coffee, whatever.
I did talk to the census folks today, they want me to do a 3 day training class 9-4.
I do have the sick time I could take to cover that, however when I spoke to my
dispatcher (supervisor) she said to tell them I'd be changing positions at work
next week and it was important for the students stability that I not miss any days
during that first week transition. Special ed kids can sometimes be very sensitive
to changes. She said see if they could schedule me at another time. That is the
only class they have at this time, so he put me back in the pile for the next call go
around.
We have a mandatory meeting tomorrow at 12:30 to teach us the new time clock
procedures. Up until now we've just written down on a time sheet our extra time,
our regular daily time was already in the computer, but the time clock is going to
change all that. Some drivers are fussing about it but I see it as a good thing.
Although it will be a shame when I get done 15 minutes early and have to wait
around to clock out at the proper time, otherwise I'll loose 15 minutes, and they
all add up if you do it several times a week.
Well, I'm about ready for bed, so I'll just stir the fire and toss on a log. The days
are getting nice but the nights are still cold.
