New truck in our future

Postby Redwahine » Wed Aug 29, 2012 9:13 pm

My DH drives a Ford F150 crew can as his everyday drive. We were on our way to go to a matinee senior special price movie. Entered intersection on green light. A woman driving a Ford F150 as well, talking on a cell phone thought she had the green arrow and plowed right into us head on! Most of the impact was on the front passenger side of the our truck bending the frame so the two doors on the passenger side would not open. Hit my head pretty hard on the head rest and seat belt about broke my shoulder. Ambulance took me to ER cuz my head hurt and I was dizzy and vomiting. Hit my head pretty hard on the head rest.

Because I am an aneurysm survivor ( brain surgery and 3 titanium clips In my head), they did a whole set of cts, MRIs, X-rays, etc. I'm bruised and banged up and will really hurt tomorrow, but will be OK! I refused to spent the night at Hopital....need to take care of my fury baby :D DH is sore, but OK and will hurt tomorrow as well. He is just mad!!!

As the EMTs were taking me out of the car we simultaneously said, "we wanted a new truck anyway....ok, it's a 5ver. Decision made for us :D

OMG! Red, I'm so glad you weren't seriously hurt... although any head injury is nothing to brush off. I hope that the hospital gave DH signs and symptoms to look for AND that he checks on you through out the night. Now about that truck...

Just got this in your PM! Oh no!!! I'm so glad you're okay, but there are about 20 too many people on here with difficulties right now. Please let (read "encourage") DH give you a little pampering. I know - you're saying, "Yeah, right." Need me to make a phone call?

oh my goodness, so glad your still alive! please watch yourself for symptons though and go back to the hospital if you need to, I know you know all that
but I have to say it anyway. But about that truck...hmm, like you said, you wanted a new one anyway. With a fver in your future, the next size up is better. :D

I think that is the "hard way" of asking for a new pickup!
Seriously tho, glad you are both okay - but make sure DH keeps a eye on you, at least for awhile.

I am glad you are both OK too. Be sure your DH wakes you up periodically to ask you questions. Any confusion, get back to the hospital!

Remember you're in Texas now, get a REAL truck & put a Ranchhand bumper on that thing! At least if they hit you head on, they'll have more damage than you.

I'm so glad both of you are okay - but that's so dang scary. You take care of yourselves and make sure there are no residual side-effects before you sign off on anything with any insurances. That said, I love your attitude about it - and now you get the new truck :)

Hope you are not hurting too bad today. Sorry about your truck, but as you said, sometimes the decision is made for us.

Glad you're both ok and hope you stay that way. Pretty drastic way to make a decision, but it sure is a sign. Thank Goodness you weren't driving a small car!

Glad it wasn't any worse for the both of you. Not the best way to get a new vehicle. Like Vickie said, one of the big welded pipe front bumpers might be a good idea. lol When my son was in high school he totaled a lady's car with the farm truck and it didn't even bend the bumper.
