Maiden Voyage

I just got back from my first camping trip in my new trailer. I went to a campground about 100 miles from here and had a spot right on the river.

I had a great time and everything worked fine. I had a minor issue with the water heater but got it fixed. The truck tows the trailer just fine and I even found another closed weigh station so I could weigh the trailer with some camping stuff in it. I only used up 200 of my 600lbs carrying capacity but I only had a few things in it for this trip. I have the bed of the truck that I can carry things in as well for a longer trip.

Karen (Oregonluvr) was there and we had a lot of fun. Our sites weren't next to each other but we managed the short 5-site walk between the rigs just fine  We're going camping again in about 3 weeks over in central Oregon at a nice little park. We drove over to look at it on Saturday and made our reservations while we were there. I'm sure we will both remember to take pictures of our mini-gtg next time.....

I'm really looking forward to the gtg at the end of September and many more camping adventures in my future...

Glad it all went well except for a small glitch Laura and that you and Karen had a good time. It sure looked like a beautiful spot to camp from the pictures.

Glad you had a successful maiden voyage! I had a problem with my water heater blowing out - took it to the service center and they ran it for 3 days, no problem (of course!!!) But then they had it under the shed where the wind wasn't blowing through.

beautiful spot, glad you had a good maiden voyage. I'm sure the glitch with the water heater was a minor one.

Always love to hear of a great maiden voyage. Don't you love camping near water..do you have an inflatable kayak? You must be a natural with towing..this is encouraging to me. I'm itching actually to get behind the wheel and hook up to Lady Bird and start my first voyage. I am so tired and weary most of the time, it affects my confidence a little but I'll get rested after this downsizing fury and away I will go :D

Thank you all for the nice comments. I am really going to enjoy this trailer. Its the perfect size for me and my little dog and I can camp just about anywhere with hookups. I could dry camp for a night or two IF I find a 12 volt coffee pot LOL No coffee, no camping

Nancy, I'm not a "natural" at towing, I just have some experience and I didn't get that without practice. Its not always a walk in the park, but I just take it slow when I back up and I don't try to be first in line when I'm driving. I go the speed I'm comfortable going and use turnouts, stay in the right lane on the freeway (unless I'm passing a truck or something) and let everyone go by that is driving faster.

You can do it!!!

Get a small metal percolator pot that you put on the stove. Then you won't have to use your battery for that and you can even use it on a campfire.
