Did it! Put a deposit on a motorhome!

Postby JudyJB » Fri Mar 23, 2012 8:31 pm

Having received my first SS check this morning, I took the big step for me and called the dealer to ask a few questions. I decided the unit they had in stock and that I drove a couple of weekends ago would be the right one at the right price, so I put a deposit on it via my credit card. I have financing approval from my credit union, but now need to arrange the details of insurance and closing the deal next weekend! Yea! My more than a year search is over!

To say I am thrilled to be joining you actual owners is an understatement! There were times I never thought it would happen. :D

I am not sure if we will actually pick it up on Saturday, but my son is looking for a storage lot where I can keep it for three months while I finish working, get toe surgery, and close on my condo. We can also do some practice camping. (His house is in Ohio, closer to the dealer, so that makes sense.)

I have been sorting stuff that will go into the motorhome from stuff that will go into storage, so it will be nice to start moving the piles. I have a minivan so I can take loads down there and put things away to make my actual moving day easier. If we can arrange a storage space near my son's house, we may park it in his driveway on Saturday night and "play" in it. Kids will have a picnic! Me too! Maybe I'll even try sleeping in it.

Yes, you and all the family will have fun playing in her Sat. night.

Good luck and I'll be looking for you on the road one of these days.

Thanks all. To tell you the truth, if I hadn't committed to working until May 31, I would leave sooner. I have always met my commitments, so I will do it this time, but it is tempting. I also still have a ton of things to pack up.

I would park in his driveway, but he has a short, narrow driveway, and two cars to have to get in and out! He lives on a cul-de-sac, so not much room on the street in front, either. Besides the little kids might run into it with their electric cars, so it will be safer locked up in a storage lot. :o

And don't want to tempt my son with a little test drive while I am back in Michigan!
