Finally a quite day and the first chance I've had to get on computer since tornados of Apr 27 and to visit with Liz.
She has been a true God send for me especially the past few days.
We were about half way between Birmingham and Huntsville last Tuesday AM when I got a call that my sister was being taken to hospital by ambulance. We went straight to hospital and stayed long enough to be sure sister's condition was not immediately life threatening. I left just long enough to get Liz to my house and open it up, then went back to hospital. The power had just come back on at my house. While I was gone, Liz started to work washing out fridg/freezer, picking up limbs, clearing paths, etc. After 7 hours in ER, doctor decided to admit sister (she was badly dehydrated and incoherent plus she has apparently mixed up some of her medications and suffered a bad fall).
After getting sister settled in room for night, I arrived home to a hot meal prepared by Liz.
While I was at hospital on Wed., Liz continued to work around house getting porches cleaned and doing whatever else she saw needing attention. She also prepared another hot meal for me, held my hand when I cried, and helped create a soothing balance around here.
My sister was released Wednesday night and insisted on going back to her house. She was doing surprisingly well by Thursday. If she continues to improve thru tomorrow, I'm going to leave with Liz Monday and go to Carolinagal's for few days of R&R.
I've been running around like a chicken with head cut off trying to take care of both my sister's affairs and my own - getting groceries restocked, bills paid, medical appointments, etc and going to Hazel Green to check on sister. Thru all this, Liz has provided physical, mental, and spiritual support to keep me going. There is no way to express how much I appreciate all she has done.
Today we finally had a chance to relax, visit, get all our washing done and even worked in a card game. I also got a lesson this evening on cooking on a gas grill (something I plan to get soon).
I also want to thank all of you for your positive thoughts and prayers. This forum is full of the most wonderful, caring women in the world.

Power is back on to almost everyone in TN Valley area except for those areas that suffered direct hit. Dusk to dawn curfew has been lifted and most schools expect to reopen on Monday as does Redstone Arsenal and other businesses who haven't already reopened. A local TV station ran a telethon yesterday for storm survivors and raised half million dollars in just few hours. Stories of kindness and support are all over the local news - really wish some of those could be seen nationally. It is so heart warming.
Now I'm praying for the safety of those in the flood areas.
Hope to have chance to catch up on other posts tomorrow.
