Screen for Cab Windows

It seems like there was a thread about this topic once but probably last year at least. Here's the question- does anyone know of any product which would work as a screen fr the front windows of the cab when camping in nice weather and want windows open for breezes etc. to keep bugs out, I mean.

They've gone up a little in price - but I still intend - one of these days - to purchase. I'm not handy at making things. When someone priced the fabric/material I'd need for them to attempt to make them - price went pretty high - to make sure the get the tiny screen that is soft enough to not scratch, etc. But if you are successful - let us know! There are many times I've wanted those.

I have looked at these too, not that I camp enough to need them. I think if you cut a piece of the fabric screen to fit the window you could use magnets to hold it on. They sell packages of magnets at places like Hobby Lobby but I don't know how strong they are. I have some of the flexible magnet strips if I can find them. If I can find them I will see if they will hold a piece of screen. I use to sew and I think if you would make like a pillow case out of the screen that would fit over the window part of the door that would work. I bought a roll of the pet proof screen to fit a door and that was about $15. The other rolls are cheaper than that.

Kellie - Purchased screens for my huge class A windshield and side front windows & door. Think they were $300. They are like the ones you see on the outside of MHs but mine go on the inside (no ladder needed) and held in place with suction cups. Can't see inside from outside except at night when lights are on inside the MH. Think they were purchased at www.RVquickshades.com. I see ads in the backs of MH magazines.

Kellie, these screens are easy to make. Use the plastic screen (or fiberglass, the pet screen is great also as it is soft) and sew as Martha suggested. The pillowcase design is simple and easy. I would add magnets to the bottom to keep in place. It doesn't have to be an exact fit with this design either. If you don't sew, glue would work also but make sure it will be okay for outside use. I made a set of these screens. I cut the screen to a bit larger than my door and as long as I wanted, then took it out and began pinning it together to fit the door. Sewed it up, and I have screens. I put a magnet strip on the outside bottom to hold it flat to keep those little skeeters outside. Quite simple to make and much less expensive than buying.

My kids bought me the skeater beater screens last Christmas. The screen is very closely woven and flexible which is good, but the magnets are very weak which is bad. In fact, I'm going to buy better magnets and attach them to these screens. As it is, if there's a decent breeze, the screens fall off.

It would be very easy to make your own. Just buy lengths of screening material and attach with magnets. The magnets don't even have to be sewn in, just put them on top. You could bind the edges of the screen with duct tape if you don't want to sew. And presto! Screens!

I like the skeeter beater screen idea. I found the magnet strips I have and they wouldn't be strong enough. The package says the magnet strength is 2. They might hold a piece of paper on the refrigerator but not the screen. Will have to find some stronger magnets.

Does that mean these don't go all the way around the window like the other ones? if they are hanging like a pillowcase, upside down - and the magnet is only holding them in place at the bottom, I can't picture how they fall off? If so, I'll go back to the other, more expensive ones when I buy.
