What are you towing, driving etc.

What are you towing, driving etc.

It's been awhile since any new posts have been made to "Show Us Your Rigs" and a number of new people have jumped on board. I'm curious to know what everybodys towing, driving, hauling etc. for the fun of it.

We have a 2004 40 ft Alfa Seeya and tow a 2005 Jeep Cherokee Love our home on wheels. We're Full-Timers but do sit still in Yuma AZ for the winter 6 months and then wander 6 months in the Spring and Summer.

Tow a RED Chevrolet Cobalt. Used to tow a Saturn LS and before that a 1974 yellow VW Imagebug with hippy flowers painted all over it and peace signs on the door. Loved that bug but finally got tired of the stick shift (did that when I was in my 20's) and laying on the ground to hook up the tow bar.

I am driving a Ford 250 Diesel Superduty Supercab truck, which tows my 34' 7" Keystone Cougar 5th Wheel trailer.

This is getting interesting. Karen, love that little car you had. Brings back memories from my early days. Veitnam war protests (not me), flower children, VW bugs, campus riots etc. I know you got attention with that.

Barbie, love your dream rig and that gorgeous red car! Bet you would turn heads in the ampground with that. I can just picture the men lining up to help you get settled into your site :D

Hate to burst your bubble but that cute red Mustang can't be towed wheels down so you'd have to have a dolly, a stick shift, or the very expensive tow package for the transmission.

Also is this Van going to have enough power to pull and STOP this Jayco Jay Feather travel trailer? Personally I'll rather tow it with a big truck.

Wow....And in one succinct jab, there goes my immense joy bubble over the excitement of months of careful research/shopping that brought me to the "perfect" trailer for our situation and vehicle and my immense stupidity in wanting to share my joy with others---BURST in one fell swoop!!

And just because inquiring minds feel the need to inquire and offer their personal opinion (but haven't taken the time to research and back up that opinion), according to my tow rating, mechanic, Ford dealer, after-market tow package dealer and trailer specialist---I'm more than capable of pulling/STOPPING this trailer. In fact, I pull a much heavier (horse) trailer right now, with no issues whatsoever.

On a side note, I'm traveling with my baby girl and my dogs in my vehicle--they are my world. To suggest that I would be ignorant enough to not to have carefully checked out all qualifying factors and not be fully versed about my vehicle's ability to adequately pull/STOP this trailer is quite insulting.

Personally, I'll keep the van--and will refrain from posting future photos of my rig so I can enjoy my new purchase without further bubble bursting ;-)

Kimberly,

Please don't get mad here. You have a beautiful trailer and I'm sure that ilke me, yu have done a lot of research. You know what your van is capable of pulling and stopping. And like me you have dogs, I don't have children though. I think that everybody just wanted to make sure that you woldn't have any problems on your much anticipated trip after reading about all your health issues and your recent surgery, dog sickness etc. WE LOVE YOU and like family we want to make sure you will be okay. We all want you to be able to get out there and enjoy it without worrying about some crazy problem with the tow vehicle. :) So please keep posting your pics. I for one would love love to see what you got and how it looks inside.

All you really had to do was "inform" us that you did your research and the van has plenty of towing capacity. There are lots of differing opinions on this forum and I'm sure no one was suggesting you were stupid. Normally if there is an issue with a particular post we will PM that person rather than flame them publicly on the forum. That's why we keep politics and religion OFF the forum. Glad to hear you did do your research - have had people fall in love with a rig and NOT research towing capacity, etc. No one was trying to hurt your feelings or diminish your joy in your rig. I drive a Class C and know nothing about towing a trailer and some vans are really underpowered so I thought it was a reasonable question. Personally I would rather NOT drive a BIG truck - personal preference.
