a Reintroduction

Postby fairlady1600 » Sat May 08, 2010 7:37 pm

Hi Everyone,

I introduced myself a while back, at that point I didn't have a RV or much of a plan. Now I have a 2002 Rialta FD in the driveway. I picked it up in Sacramento at the end of March and drove it along Route 80 back to New Jersey. It was quite an adventure. I took my ex with me to pick it up since we had a VW Westie for years. I found out when I arrived that the Rialta was a repo but it was in excellent shape. The first night we discovered that the 12 vold charger was dead and we spent a cold night. Next day, the KOA was helpful in finding a truck service that spent half a day finding the charger and $650 later we were free to head east. 5 days later we arrived back in NJ with a list of repairs to be made and happy memories.

I had a knee replacement on April 15th and haven't driven since. I have another 6 or 7 weeks of PT but hope to be as good as new after that. I have put my house on the market and plan on being on the road by this fall. At times I think I'm crazy to have made so many choices so quickly but it is done now. My only hope is that I like life on the road.

Since all my daughters will be away in college I thought this might be the time to see the world and reduce my expences.

I'm sorry I haven't been on more but it has just been so busy or painful to spend alot of time on the internet

Well you have the first trip under your belt and now know that most issues are fixable and survivable  Strength and determination will get you through the next set of challenges and before you know it you will be telling us all about a new campground or special site you have found. :) We look forward to meeting you around a campfire in the future.

Welcome back, Pat. Such an exciting story to tell. So glad you have your new little home. The best car I ever had was one that had been stolen - I was looking at repos - there are great deals out there in those. And yep, there will be things go wrong - hopefully not all of them will cost so much, but yep, it is a house and car - so there are expenses :o

I hope you keep healing at a rapid rate - and look forward to seeing you here more often. And meeting you on the road!

Well Pat, you may been neglecting us ( ) but you've been making your RV dreams come true! I think that qualifies as an excused absence.

Sounds like a wonderful trip. I hope you had time to stop and smell the flowers (in places where RVs are not repaired!).

NOW ... we want to hear stories and see pictures! So spill, girlfriend.

HI Pat,

I got how scary it is to make so many decision quickly through an important transition. Good for you! How did you like your new rig, I mean, the repair aside? Did it drive like you expected, otherwise function as you hoped given the lay out and other operating systems? Have you named her/him?

You went with your X? Hmmmmm, I don't know you well enough to ask but my mind is wondering how that worked out while traveling.

Can you share a little more detail on how the process went buying a repo? I would love to hear as I have been not having such good luck in that dept.

REINTRODUCTION-------
What a good idea---Pat!--- reintroduction!!!!
This is Olive Oil----I keep up with Beth as much as you can keep up with that girl on Face Book!!! :D
Well Hubby & I are now in the Missouri Ozarks!!!! And love living here-can you believe it will soon be 2 years-since we decided to size down & have major auctions & move to the Ozarks???
Well last year we bought the motor home from hell---- that we bought from an estate-- & the son was not legally able to sell the RV -but he lied to us & signed over the title--- & then we could not get a clear title to it---had to go to court-- terrible experience--- & I could write a book about it!!!!
Well we -or I guess Hubby has been looking for an RV ever since----- I was not as eager to find something again after the RV FROM HELL!!
I suffer from MCS / multi chemical sensitivities & Fibromyalgia & chronic Fatigue along with many other health problems---& we needed an RV that was older & all the chemicals have been out gassed---- etc etc---- And an RV we could make as chemical & scent free as possible as my "Safe Home" on wheels!!
Well we finally found a mini-home again----- our last RV we sold was a 5th wheel--- & to be really honest I was not comfortable driving (or towing it) it any longer with my health problems--- & over the years we have had about everything-- & I felt most comfortable driving the mini-homes we have owned---- so we found another mini-home!! Gulfstream / 31 ft-really longer than I wanted---- but I think it will work out fine!!
So we are back to RVING again!!!!!!!!!
We have been doing this for over 45 years now---- but each RV is different---- & I'm getting it packed & ready-----so when Dad says go---- then all I have to do is load more clothes & food & the pets & we are off!!!
Also each RV is different- so we need to make our new check lists!!!
We are planning on attending---Bluegrass festivals in Mo & Ark this summer!! ECT----
hope all who remember me are well---- & enjoying your RV's!!
later OO
