update on dh

we have finished the external beam radiation and took ourselfs and our 5th wheel down to SLC set it up in our daughters best friends driveway....and began the next phase of the radiation treatment for his prostrate cancer that being the Brachytherapy. For this he has to spend the night in the hospital. we went in early just after 6:00 am now to me that is early and I'm very tired!...for the Brachytherapy rods or needles are put into the prostrate (17) of them he had a spinal bloc for it then in the afternoon he was given a high dose of radiation through these rods....they remain inserted until the procedure is finished tomorrow he has to have 2 more doses 5 hours apart then he can come home...when he has recouped enough we will leave for Quartzsite

By the time he gets through all these treatments, if they can even find his prostate gland to measure the PSA count, it will be a miracle! ( I know, I know---it's just a blood test they do for the PSA levels, but...!!)

Seriously, they are treating this cancer VERY aggressively, and it will be a good outcome, I am sure. My brother's prostate cancer is now under control, and he had minimal treatments compared to your guy's!

Here's hoping you all have a fun time at Quartzite, after he feels better! Thanks for updating us.

Thank you all for your prayers and best wishes!1 so appreciate them...all went well today and he is home a little worse for wear and tare sleeping for the most part which is needed. Too me it is amazing what advancements that they have done and then the mind wonders who in his right mind came up with this treatment???? I'd describe it if I could figure out how to do it dh wanted a picture taken G rated of course but forgot to take the camera in and then just now remembered I had my phone oh well I said who ever wants to see can google it !! if I've been spelling it right that is ....

Sheila, I'm glad that he's home and all is going well. Before you know it you'll be enjoying the warmth (?) of Quartzite and remembering this as a rather annoying speed bump in your plans. I'll keep praying for you both as move ahead now.
