This is always an interesting topic to me as I love to hear what others do to maximize the storage space inside or outside your rigs. I have a class C with tons of storage but last winter in Port A I complained to Beth about all the wasted space in several of my cabinets becasue they are so tall with no shelves. She took me in her rig and showed me some simple wire type shelves she had bought at Lowes. Of course, once I was home It wasn't a burning issue so I put in on the back burner. Now that the weather has turned cooler my thoughts have returned to this winter's extended trip. Went to Wally World and bought several of those wire coated metal shelves and racks and spent several hours re-organizing and sorting the cabinets in the main living area. One word - Wow! Can't believe how much difference such an inexpensive solution can make. I virtually doubled the usable space in each cabinet continuing to use baskets in various sizes, cheap plastic ones. I also bought one of those drawer type things, medium size, for one cabinet. I used it for stuff like extra batteries(for flashlights, remotes etc),replacement light bulbs, safety gear like my pepper spray and whistle and all sorts of necessary RV stuff. I want to buy one more drawer thing, a small one, for first aid supplies and OTC meds, which are currently all jumbled together in a basket. I would like to find some kind of drawer divider also for the 2 drawers beside the bed.
I have a corner cabinet in the bedroom which is meant for a second TV, which I don't need cause I'm the boss of the remote and can see the screen from the bed anyway. For some reason, this cabinet doesn't like to stay closed and I want to use it for extra electronic stuff and my fan and my portable heater. I don't want this stuff falling out while traveling. Has anybody used those childproof kind of cabinet locks and what is your success with them?
Next week the rig is going in for service - get her roof inspected, sealed etc cause I don't do heights. they will also check my TV antenna that I've had a few problems getting to crank down after using. A few other improvement/modificaions going on - repair/replace the wall Eddie tore up with some new vinyl coated paneling; adding one of those drawers under the table like Karen showed us, getting some shelves for the cab bunk area also like Karen showed us - but am hoping to use mine for the TV, if cords etc will reach; and then a plexiglass cover for the dinette so I can work jigsaw puzzles. Karen drilled holes right thru her table for hers but my handy son suggested a sort of frame around the table so we are going to try that. I'll post pics when done, wish I had done before shots of cabinets but didn't think of it.
