Who's Traveling Where this Year?

Postby Colliemom » Thu Feb 16, 2017 7:41 am

Donna started a thread earlier in December asking what everybody had planned this year and now that spring is coming, thought I would reactivate another version of it. Who's going to be traveling or hoping to travel this year? Thoughts on GTG's etc. I'm still thinking east to PA, Civil War sites etc. for early summer, probably hang around MI, July/Aug and maybe another trip in late summer, early fall. West is tugging me a bit too. Budget will dictate a lot of it.

I have no idea! Shopping for Colt 2.0, helping Bro-in-law & Ma, and the project from, well you know where, have kept me pretty busy. I do have a 3-nighter booked when I pick up the new TT, but past that, I'm always tied down by work. Summer is our busy time, fiscal year change, plus this year is our Centennial and the convention is in Chicago, so directive has been received of no vaycay time in June & July.

Short-term, maybe going back to one of the COE campgrounds down yonder again in May, but Fall trip is any body's guess so I'm open for almost anywhere in surrounding states for a week or so. Start planning Sue! ;)

This is always a fun topic to see what everyone is planning!

I will leave Florida eventually! Thought I'd be in Texas by now, but weather, new trailer and chances for gtgs kept coming up!

April 19-23 - Kerrville, Texas for SS Rally
April 24-May 1 - Rockport, Texas
May 9- June 8 - Kansas for granddaughter's high school graduation, dental, medical with SS only trip to Maggie Valley, NC for rally (May 3-June 4) in the midst
June 14 - ? Washington State for grandson's graduation/18th birthday. Hoping for another SS only trip to Vail, CO for SS rally July 12-16 unless I decide not to go back to Washington for the rest of the summer.

And then who knows! I have had such a great time on the east coast this year, especially here in FL where weather has cooperated!

I have committed to working a project from March 1 thru May 1. After that I only have jello, beautiful, beautiful jello! As of now I am hoping to travel in and around New England but who knows. I stayed around all last summer and most of the fall to work and show dogs and with Josef still maturing now is my chance to let him mature a few more months. You will know where I am headed went I get there! I do have family north of New York City.....and I hear there is a beautiful land in upstate New York that looks out on the mountains that has a fantastic tour guide on site!

Once back in Michigan and Ohio in late April and early May, I will be headed west through Illinois, Kansas, and Colorado. Will meet my Ohio son and family at Grand Canyon on June 18. I'll arrive a few days early, but they will be there three days and then we will all move to Zion for two days. Afterwards, I am headed to high places in Colorado and northeastern Utah. Then to Napa for last two weeks of August, and then north to Oregon and maybe Washington?? After that, maybe San Diego and then Arizona, Nevada, and New Mexico for winter.

I will be leaving Quartzsite early in April need to be in SLC for Family stuff not sure if I will hang out there for a month or go to
Idaho earlier than normal...sorta want a month in Utah though....but we shall see...haven't heard of anything going on other than
sometime there is a Sun thing going on and then Sandi will stop and see me :D I do know I have to go to SD and renew my driver's license
some time in the fall if I can convince myself to do it might take the 5th wheel to get it and then on to at least Iowa then on down to AZ but we
shall see depends upon how much I spend during the summer....and if I find the nerve to do it....
always remember I am not far from Yellowstone and the Grand Teton National Parks

My plans aren't set in stone yet either. April, I will be in NC and TN, first to visit my Mom in NC. Then I will meet up with a friend to spend a couple weeks hiking and kayaking in the smokie mtn. area. I would like to take a trip in the summer out west, and that is still in the planning stages.

I will be going to Maui in mid-April with my daughter and grandkids. After that the only thing planned so far is the Eagle Lake GTG in northeast California in mid-August and from there heading east through northern Nevada (stopping 2 nights at Thomas Canyon where PattyK worked), one-night in SLC (dinner at the Lion House in Temple Square), then up to Idaho Falls for the total solar eclipse on August 21. From there I hope to go see Sheila in Tetonia. Still haven't decided where I'll go from there.

Only two things on the calendar so far:

- Late June, a week in Chicago.

- Mid July, two weeks at the condo in FL. We may repaint and will definitely give it a good cleaning.

I'll be at Pere Marquette SP, near Alton IL from May 4 thru May 11. Tentative plans include Prophetstown SP in IN in August with my camping group and Thompson COE with them also.

I've booked a site in Thomson COE in August 17 thru 21. Prophetstown is in the end of Sept./beginning Oct. but I haven't booked that one yet.
Any day spent in the company of my animals is a good day.

The 2017 Grand Adventure is gonna to North to Alaska!!!

Been awhile since I popped in..... however, after spending time with several forum women at Hillsborough State Park last week felt it was time to pop back in. Hope to leave Florida around the 1st of June heading toward Mitch's place in Tennessee before we head north. No time frame.... open to enjoy as much as I can afford to pay for.

Those who have made this trip before, would appreciate suggestions (my first trek there) on "must see" places. Plan to boondock a lot since I've just installed solar panels on Yoda's roof and installed a 1,000 watt inverter.

Anyway.... here's me.... Patsy/YodaRules ..... checking in!

Patsy, I tried to look at your blog and my iPad brings up a big warning panel saying its a possible phishing site! Could there be a problem with your blog?
Glad you are back. Envy your planned trip.

I recommend the Alaska Travel book by the Church's. It didn't have the advertising, etc to wade through that the Mile Post has. I liked the simple information about the camping choices along the way, where gas stations were and some recommendations for different areas. Check it out.
