As of this evening he is off the heart pump but still on the ventilator. His heart is beating a strong rhythm, so that is good. Maybe tomorrow they will be able to get him off the ventilator. Just thought you all would like to know. And, I thank you for all the prayers and good thoughts.

Didn't post to much last night at all.

But I kept this up so that I could to you first thing this morning.

Thought you all might be interested in an update on the situation. It has been 5 weeks today since Jim's heart attack. Last week (on wednesday) they took him back into surgery to re-wire his sternum and ribs. Seems they had shifted or come loose somehow. While in there, they removed a clot behind the sternum that was pooling blood and causing him to cough up blood. Since then he has made great strides in his recovery. He is now breathing on his own and we are hopeful that they will take him off the ventilator completely and even remove the trach (or let it heal up or whatever) really soon. He was asking when he would be getting out of there and they were talking about getting him out of the bed and into a chair for a bit yesterday. I haven't seen him in about 2 weeks, so it's time for me to go back for a visit. I just can't believe he has been in the hospital for 5 weeks! And I am so thankful that he is still with us! And very thankful to all of you for all of your prayers!

Oh, Paulette, that is good news. It sounds like they needed the 2nd surgery to get him healing - I'm glad he was able to hang on till then for them to realize it. Now hopefully he can heal and get home and back to living!

Of course, he's remaining in my prayers.

Thank heavens for those loose bones in his chest....opening him back up seems to have saved his life! I went back to read all the former posts so I could know what was going on.

Please send Jim strength and hope and healing powers to get back on his feet and at home soon. And hugs to you, too!

I will burn a candle for him here, along with the candle I am burning for Barbzee's family.
