A YAY Birdie Sunday!!

And why may you ask is it a YAY Birdie Sunday? Because Birdie turned me on to her magic antenna and here I am out in the middle of nowhere, where I've never ever been able to make phone calls without going out and getting on top of a high dune, getting on-line and making phone calls!! Thank you, thank you Birdie!!

So as you can see, I made it out to Mammoth Wash, 17 miles south of Niland, Ca just fine. The road we used to come in on out of Niland has been washed out for several years and we had to go 100 miles out of out way and come in thru Glamis. My jeep club sent out an email that the road had been re-done, was good, but was soft in places, so when I got to Slab City, I got on the 2-way radio that our club uses and was able to reach on of the group and he came out and waited for me at the soft spot and led me thru. Rough, but do-able. Hope was a trouper and just chugged on thru. I'm sure by the time we get ready to leave next Monday it'll be to soft to go out that way and we'll have to go around again. Weather is beautiful so far and I'm anxious to get the sand car off the trailer and hit the dunes.

Hope everyone has a loverly day, I need to get busy and finish setting up camp and get the car off the trailer. I didn't have time to finish greasing him and I was to busy socializing yesterday to even finish getting stuff set up around my camp, and Chewy is looking at me with her legs crossed. I figured she would sleep in long enough for me to finish this, but not so. Poor baby! Her mama is so mean to her! :D

Okay, what kind of antenna is this? I might want to pick one up for my big trip next summer.

Glad you made it out there without incident, Sharon. It's cold and threatening rain here -- good day for hanging out inside. But I'm off to the Apple store for a "One to One" session to learn more about iMovie and the new Apple OS. I love my MacBook Pro & want to be able to utilize as many of the bells and whistles it has as possible.

Anyway, glad you can peek in between rides, Sharon. Be safe out there, okay?

Next summer I'll be going to the RVW Convention in Gillette, WY, and then over to the Seattle area. My plan is to leave here in late June, be to Gilette by July 1, over to Seattle after the Convention, and then home by mid-August. I'll be caravanning with some friends back to Seattle & then to Whistler, B.C. once we get to Seattle the first part of August. And Sheila, depending on which way I go & who might be with me, I may be able to stop at your campground and spend a day or so. I have the picture of my trailer nestled in that awesome campsite as my desktop picture -- it's one of my all-time favorite places. And the people who host there aren't too bad, either. ;)

Not to hijack this thread ... but it's looking like I may be in Q the first weekend in February with friends. If it happens I'll make sure Jed & I get over to see you & Larry, and anyone else who might be camped with you. I'll keep you posted on both.
