When our modular house got here the stove was damaged and it took several months for the company to replace it. We did all our cooking on one of the electric griddle things and the microwave. We still cook on it a lot. It's healthier than frying. We had a Jenn-Air in our old house and I loved it. Wore out the first one and was on the second one. I wanted to get another but the companies that sell them here wouldn't install them. One told me I could get a handyman to install it. I don't think so. When we built our house the carpenters wouldn't vent it through the roof like it was suppose to be vented and it never did vent right. When we bought the second one I made them vent it to an outside wall. After thinking about it for a while I decided we better not get one. My DH is getting so forgetful about watching what he is cooking that I was afraid he would set the house on fire.

Judy, that sounds blissful.

I did some searching here and found a town south of us that is doing a free dinner on Thanksgiving day (the ones I found first were on weekends when I'd be working) and called to volunteer. They called me back today and (with Molly's permission) I volunteered both of us to help where ever they need it (serving, cleaning up, etc). It's been several years (well since before I started rving) since I've done this and I'm glad to be able to do it again. They'll be having this early in the day (lunch time) so I'll then come home and kick back with some treats for myself for dinner. (And I'll make sure Peaches gets something special, too.) Not sure what. I like Thanksgiving - I take the time to reflect on how lucky I am to have the life I have, the health I have, etc.

That's a really neat way to spend the day, Beth. Good for you and Molly.

Beth, what a wonderful plan you have. I'm sure your efforts for the day will be most appreciated and you will feel so good about your choices and not sooooo stuffed as some of the other of us will be feeling.

I am hoping to get over to west Tn., where I love to go for Thanksgivings, so many family and friends all congregate there. My Sis has a home over there where almost everyone ends up, 47 were there two yrs. ago, when I went. Its a time for the hunters and most have cabins etc. there and they come from everywhere. Only place I see some of them. We have some musicians and singers in the group,so we have the works at our gatherings, and I love it. After being alone here, the few days I'm there are wonderful for me. Guess what, when I leave, no need for doing much chattering for awhile   Almost talked out LOL Missed last yr., but am really hoping I can make it this yr. TRYING

My plans sound selfish after your post. UUUUmmmmm

They don't sound selfish to me. But even if they are - it's good for our soul to take care of ourselves - and that trip sounds like a great one. You can't see all those people in one place too many times, I wouldn't think. I hope you can get there.

Well, now I wish I was with Beth!! That is such a grand idea. We will be going to the dreaded potluck in the park after all. I'm trying to be nice about it so I'm venting on here!

It's just Kelly and I but I love Thanksgiving!!!!!!

Will be doing the turkey in the crockpot again like last year, along with having mashed tatters, squash, cranberry sauce and some sort of veggie, bakery rolls and dessert. The turkey will be under 14lbs to fit in the crockpot of course but I simply can't do a Thanksgiving without a turkey. Even when in Maine and invited to friends house I had to do a turkey of my own the next day. Still haven't figured out which I like best????? The Thanksgiving meal it's self or the leftovers.

Have no idea if the oven in the tt works or not as I haven't checked out. Kinda nervous to tell you the truth, would hate like heck to blow ourselves up! Not to even think about all the propane it would suck up to do a turkey for those hours. Sooner or later I will get brave tho.

If we were home in TN? Oh yeah!!!! A huge turkey and something of everything to cover the table and make it and all the bellies groan. :D

Looks like I'll be at my DD/SIL's. The day before my DD is running in a race in Chicago and the day after she and my SIL have to work, so I'll be bringing the GDs back home with me afterward.

Echo: I love both the meal AND the next day leftovers, but think the leftovers win by a smidge. I love turkey/dressing/cranberry sauce sandwiches! :o

I have to say, there are some wonderful things going on for Thanksgiving. :o Most everyone is with family. This is my first T-Day without family! :( Sad, but I'll be OK... I like the casina buffet Idea and the frozen turkey dinner sounds like its alot of alone time, I have been alone too long. I have planned to rent a car, so I am doing like Bethers is, There is a church that is feeding the (whoever) for lunch- so I am going to volunteer my services, and then eat also. I would love to have leftovers, but I guess it depends on if there is anything left. I love to shop afterwords,  so I will explore, and shop til I drop!!!! My RV has a oven, I like to cook cookies & muffins, to heat up the camper.... it smells terriffic afterwards. .....The blueberrys and Ice cream sound delightful!! :D !! Everyone have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!! !!!! We live in a BEAUTIFUL country,.. I am proud to call HOME. It's great to be able to see it, one part at a time! Be safe and hope to see you in my travels... Jacque

Wendy, you have such a great imagination!! That's about how I think of her except no apron - of course, I now have added that to my image.

I picked up a large bottle of Kahlua in Mexico yesterday so I'll be in great shape in time for that *@#% board game Thanksgiving evening!

Thanks, Sharon! :)

Thanksgiving has always been my favorite holiday and the one I enjoyed preparing each year. Since I thought I would be in KY at Amazon thru the holidays, I had not made plans for Thanksgiving. When my plans changed, I returned to Sarasota early but I no longer have furniture in my home here so am staying in my MH. My friend's daughter has a huge gathering each year with about 25 people. She graciously invited me and both of my daughters to her dinner. Not sure what I will be preparing yet.
