Headed south

I'm going to head up into the hills along the peninsula this weekend, probably stay at a park along skyline somewhere.

If all goes well with the car, I'm headed south after that. Thinking about Mercey Hot Springs, maybe see Pinnacles Nat. Monument, and by that point I'm far enough towards LA to go ahead and drive down there for some face to face meetings with business associates.

Anybody gone between SF and LA and have fond memories of a spot between them? I'm looking for interesting diversions.

Wish me luck!.

I decided to head towards central CA immediately, so I got on 101 going south, intending to go visit mt hamilton, pick up a geohashing spot, and then head to mercey hot springs.

Got precisely 1 exit, a mile or so, in about 45 minutes - in the worst traffic jam I've ever seen on 101.
By that point the car's temp was creeping up, it kept dying, and was running terribly. Decided that it's going to need carb work before I trust it out in the country...

And the darn exhaust system's leaking again.

Happy your are going south, but sorry to hear about your recent mechanical troubles. Hopefully, they will be a thing of the past, so you can get more rving in. :)
