My step daughter had a seizure almost a year ago. They ran all kinds of tests and could not find a cause. About a month ago she had a heart attack from a very small blockage. She was very lucky to be in a place that she got good immediate help and had little damage. Probably not what is wrong with your sister but keep after the doctors if she keeps having symptoms.

Sarah, is your sister still refusing to eat anything that would be good for her system? Lack of nutrition can cause lots of things to breakdown in the body. I'm so sorry that you have to go through all of this - and, unfortunately, I think you care more about her getting well than she does. That makes it even more difficult. She's so lucky to have you but I doubt that she realizes that. Just YOU realize it. And, yes, take care of YOU.

Thanks for checking in, Sarah. I'll ditto what everybody else said, take care of yourself and hopefully your sister will get better also.

Thank you for the all the prayers and positive thoughts. Sister was put on anti-seizure meds and sent home again without doctors being able to tell us much more than they already have. From what they can tell, there is no reason for all the medical problems she has experienced this year. Basically telling us it is pretty much up to her now as there is no treatment for lack of will to live. Not sure I buy that as a valid medical diagnosis.
Please keep the positive thoughts coming for her. We are just taking things a day at a time.

I don't buy that as a medical diagnosis either. Yes, I can understand someone not wanting to live if they're suffering so much, but the docs need to exhaust every medical possibility first. In addition to praying for you and your sister, I'll pray that the doctors are soon guided by intelligence and insight.

We've made it a week now with no emergencies or trips to hospital.
Sister is still not eating much but did have some success with getting her to eat an egg and half peanut butter sandwich this week for some protein.
Todays doctor visit went well. He said he had reviewed her medications and changes made at recent hospital stays. He believes it is possible that one of those changes could have resulted in the seizures. Made some small changes including reducing strength of anti-seizure meds. to see how that goes. Gave her another lecture on eating. Praised her for gaining a pound - I think more for moral encouragement than anything else as a single pound could just be fluid or clothes difference. Take what we can get however.
Plan to start the in-home PT next week.
We are conservatively optimistic with this weeks progress and will continue to take things a day at a time.
Thank you again for all your prayers and good wishes.
