Back Below The Mason Dixon

Wow, after reading Marslet's post, I feel like a weinie. We did see 13 states, but they are little ones up here. About an hour ago we crossed into Maryland and I informed the Goddess that we were back in the south. She said, "No, not until Virginia." Oh yes, I told her. I remember my ex-husband's family from Hagerstown, MD informing me years ago that they were southerner's too. Still, I don't think the Goddess was satisfied.

At the moment we are sitting in a Walmart in a place called Rising Sun, MD. Took 20 minutes to go 2 miles to get off 95 and over to the Walmart. Seems that a semi rolled over and crushed a mini van about an hour before we got this far and all lanes are closed. The folks in the Walmart here were really nice and invited us to stay the night right here. I did pick up a few things I needed like dog treats for a really spoiled dog. I think we'll sit here a few hours to let all that back up clear out then fill up at the Flying J and head on down the road a ways.

Should be home by the first of the week and will try posting pix to photo bucket again. In the meantime, if you want to see pix you can click on the link to my blog at the bottom of the page.

Stay safe.

I see you are in Cecil County in northern MD. I heard about the wreck on 95 early this morning and understand the traffic is still backed up to the DE state line. Staying put is probably a good idea until the traffic breaks loose. So glad you've enjoyed your trip.

Irmi, it was awful. We sat in the walmart for about 3 hours then tried to follow the detour down 22 to 40 but when we got to 95 it was still backed up so we turned around and went back to a Home Depot parking lot and sat till 6pm. And guess what? Home Depot had free public wifi! We were parked with a good breeze blowing through the windows and I surfed the net while the goddess napped. When we tried to go south again it was still a mess so we stayed on 22 west till it met with US 1 and took that to 695 and got some distance between us and Baltimore. We have landed in another Walmart this time in Mt. Airy, MD. Will try to get some sleep and leave out shortly after sunrise while it's still cool. I'm still nursing my engine heat. If we can get a ways down the road early before it gets so awful hot, then we can stop and visit an interesting site and rest till the next day. Sorry we were in a hurry to get home and couldn't visit with you. I love the MD shore and especially Annapolis (retired navy you know).
