Campground recommendations for NC

Hi ladies!
I've been checking in on the stories of the PA gtg; I was at a family reunion in PA at the same time and thought I might be able to catch part of it & meet yall, but it didn't work out that way...another time for sure . In the meantime, I got my first real camping trip in for 8 days including camping in WVA, PA, and finally the Finger Lakes of NY. Have to seriously recommend Watkins Glen St. Park on Lake Seneca...WOW, what a fantastic place. Nice cg facilities, nothing fancy...state park after all, but the hike through the gorge was unbelievably beautiful (no dogs permitted..a good thing...). I'll try to get up a couple of pics, but if not, just picture waterfalls, uber-cool rock formations, and luscious trees/plants. No cost to park at the gorge if you're camping at the SP.

On the experience side, I learned about replacing a coach battery due to it shorting out; discovered when I returned from the 6a.m. dog walk to smoke coming out the side of my Roadtrek...YIKES! Also learned about how I can better organize for several days on the road. Had a fantastic time and sooooooo glad I went ahead and bought the RT sooner instead of later!

Now, I'm back at work for a couple of weeks and then planning a trip to somewhere is northern NC...so looking for recommendations from you veteran rv'ers about dog-friendly places (shady sites, you know the drill). Hoping to find a place that's good for walking/hiking with my fur-girls and that has nice bathhouse. Has anyone ever stayed at Four Paws Kingdom? I'm thinking that might be pretty fun for a nite or two.

Yes Yes on Four Paws. The owners are very very nice. And I have been there several times and usually meet some nice people at the dog park or just stopping by a rig and talking. They have nothing for children and request that they not come so it is all about adults and the dogs they love. They have themed weekends and Mike is known to be an excellent chef. And from there you can drive over to chimney rock and Lake Lure.

I have stayed at the Stone mountain state park which is sort of north central NC. It is just west of 77 and south of the Blue Ridge Parkway. The dogs are allowed to hike those trails. They have electric with shade and some in a newer section that does not have trees.

Thanks so much for your input! I was impressed with 4 Paws website...looks like a place I'll definitely put on my itinerary ... my girls are sooooo loving camping & this will really intrigue my younger one Good tips about the area, too.
