Thought I should post...

okay..i do sneak in here a couple times a week and read up on things and see what you all are up to. I should get back into posting more..now that spring is arriving.

We spent the last week in Idaho..and while I was there..I did get a chance to sneak over to the RV dealer that has the Lance Trailers. So I got better look at the Lance Trailer we saw at the RV show. I really really do like it. I also have to say..I liked the RV place. Here our Lance Dealer did not have one in stock..basically said he could order us one. I was like..no I want to take another look at it.

So the RV dealer in Idaho, I basically walked in and said this is what I want to look at and why. Then got a salesman for me. I told him I was only wanting to look at this specific model and we were not buying it now. He showed the unit and told me about changes made from the 1st year to this 2nd year model. We then went back inside, and he had me take a seat in a room, while he went to get the manager and some information for me. (I panicked..I was like..crap..I have to get to my sisters in 20 min for dinner...I really don't want to deal with this now). They came back, handed me the Lance brochure with the business card...asked if i had a trade in and when would we be back in the area. They would be more then willing to work on a deal. That was it...I was so glad.

Not sure if we will have a trade in. We plan to put our RV up for sale by Mid-May. If it sells before then..then we will not have a trade in. If we still have it when we go back to Idaho in July for our Family Reunion, we will most likely trade it in...I think .

Sounds like a good plan. It's refreshing to find a dealership like that with no pressure.

What Liz said. And good to hear you were able to feel comfortable with the dealer. Good luck selling. You'll most likely get a better price selling on your own - if you can find a buyer in the time you have - but it's nice to have the trade-in option if necessary.

what part of ID were you at? we will be camp hosting in Island Park for the summer which is just south of West Yellowstone about 25 miles
and it's always good to go to dealers like that we went to one that had advertised some special things going on went in had an escort on our looking at rv's and when we left it was with well come back when you want to buy something we didn't ...and they went out of business.. we were used to going to a dealer and just going out and looking at what we wanted and waving at them as we left
good luck with your decision think I saw that lance in the last issue of ???????? hmmmm can't remember which one it was looked nice

We were in Boise. It was a newer RV dealership. I told mom..I had to look them up again and it was one of the long time car dealerships that has now ventured into RV sales. They are actually on the opposite part of the city that most of the other RV dealerships are located.

I did not mind the escort, as I had a couple questions I wanted to ask. Like how long has this model been out and what changes were made. One of the changes was the storage under the Ushaped dinette. It was all open. Then things would shift and slide and get back behind and could not be reached. So now they blocked it..so the side seats are a storage area..the longer bench section is also a storage area, but accessible from an outside compartment.

I also wanted to make sure the bathroom was accessible with the slide in. That is something I never thought of when we bought our first TT...while it is not deal breaker..it is convenient thing.

Then I wanted to see the sofa/bed conversion how that all flipped out into a bed.

Hey Kris have you been to this site. It talks about a lot of things. Like what kind of truck you need for the weight on top. I had not thought it would matter that much about the truck, but guess it does.

This one has lots of truck camper information. Some of it can apply to TT and RV's. One of the things it talked about was the Lance 1050S (slide) you can't get into the camper unless the slide is out. Talked to some folks with a 5th wheel that had the same problem. It has a lot of good information on that web site. The Newbie Corner is neat too and it just started. Good luck on whatever you decide to do.

those are some important things to know... we can get to the bedroom and restroom and use the kitchen with the slides in which is handy if you overnight at walmart or a truck stop ect or if you need to stop and use the facility's in route... those are some things that we really paid attention to when looking for our current 5th wheel
have fun in the search
Boise is quite a ways from where we will be

Thanks for the link Birdie, I saved it to my favorites and will read through it when I want to spend a bit more time reading.

The issue of being about to access the bathroom and kitchen area was one that I took into consideration when I looked for a TT too. It was one of the selling points on my Rockewood. Rockwood makes the Mini Lite 1089 and Mini Lite 1809S, same exact trailer, except the S model has the slide of course. When my slide is in, I have the exact same amount of floor space as the model that doesn't have the slide does. I can actually camp with my slide in if I want to. I can access the entire trailer with no problem what so ever. Some rigs I have looked at are so roomy even with out a slide out, that you could almost not even both with a slide. I looked at the Lance models via the web and they seem like very nice rigs. There are no dealers around here that carry them though. At the time though I was looking for one with more light weight as like Birdie said, there are trucks and there are trucks. I had a half ton capable of towing at TT (trailer package and 5.3 V8) , but I found that even with the weight of my TT(4300) , the truck was a bit slow on the accleration with it. With my new one, still a half ton but with larger engine (6.2), I have all the power I need.

As has been said, when it calls "home" you know you have found your house on wheels. :P And if you find a dealer you are comfortable with, even if it is a ways from home, go ahead and buy it. About the only time you would see the dealer again after the sale would be for warranty service probably and once that warranty is up, doesn't matter. Although you might have to wait a bit, any dealer who carries the brand, can service them. CW will do anybody if necessary. My dealer is 50 miles away, but I have a Forest River dealer three miles from me here, so I can go over there if I want. They just didn'lt have the brand and model I wanted, or I would have bought from them.
