Food and the change of life

Did that get your attention?

I was just thinking while eating dinner outside on the table (covered with the new Wal-Mart tablecloth), watching the sunset and the hummingbirds humming around the acacia trees: this is so weird! Two weeks ago I was unloading two dishwashers, setting the table for six to as many as 25 people, helping Adam with fancy meal prep. for that many people plus some workers and ourselves, serving said food, and cleaning up afterward (scraping dishes, loading the two dishwashers, washing the rest by hand). Being a good chef, careful not to make anyone sick inadvertently, he used so many dishes, utensils, pots, pans, baking and serving dishes that I lost track sometimes.

Tonight I cut up some veggies, added some leftover cooked meat from a supermarket rotisserie chicken, cooked it all together on the outside propane camp stove in one small frying pan, seasoned it with a few things, spooned out a little cottage cheese, cut up a couple of fresh strawberries, poured something to drink, and that was it. Used a total of one knife, one fork, one wooden spoon, one paper plate, and one paper cup. No dishes to wash except for the pan and silverware.

Such is life sometimes!

:P amazing how I can go all week and not have to wash any dishes myself, but
then the weekend rolls around and I've made a real mess in the kitchen for myself
to clean up. Ahhh, but the food is good. I'll trade washing a sinkfull of dishes once
a week to everyday anytime.

When I move to a new job or as I am now, not working, I always feel a little discombooberated (great word) for a little while. I think less dishes are a GOOD thing. I use a lot of paper plates cause I really don't like doing dishes anymore. My dogs are grateful that I'm no longer dragging their butts for a walk before its light. They both have sleeping down to a fine art.
