Flamingo Fridays

Postby BarbaraRose » Mon Aug 09, 2010 9:11 pm

I had a customer a couple weeks ago who told me that she wanted to get to know her neighbors better so she started what she called "Flamingo Fridays". Every Friday evening, one neighbor gets the 3 pink flamingoes to put in their front yard and they have a neighborhood get-together for the evening in their back yard. Everyone brings something to grill and a beverage and they sit around and chat. Then the flamingoes go to another neighbor for the next Friday night. She said they have been doing it for several years now (summer only) and they love it. I thought that was a really neat idea so I thought I would share it with you all :D

Here is a website with pink flamingo gifts and things, that I found. Cool stuff there!

Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

What a cool idea! Some of those neighborhoods really get into that stuff!
And this group picked the PERFECT calling card!!!
I'd have to drive about 3 miles to find a neighbor to stick the Flamingos in!
(boy, that could be taken the wrong way!)

PS: How's the packing going? Getting it all whittled down to a car load + carrier?
What's your Dad gonna say when you tell him he's going on a trip to California? :o

  I thought that same thing when I first read it! If I were your neighbor, I'd be watching my back! Wouldn't want to be stabbed with a flamingo by an angry little old dufus! :o

Slow but sure...lots left to do yet! Haven't gotten much response on my furniture on Craig's List, yet. Being that I live in a studio apartment, I don't really have all that much to sort thru. I move so often that I cull a lot of stuff each time.
I'm not sure yet what my dad's reaction is going to be. He loves California, especially Palm Springs and would love to have an excuse to visit out there in the winters especially. I haven't decided yet if I am going to leave in mid September with him (I think he would want to go) or wait until October 1st and tag along with Linda. Depends on when I get done packing and ready to move, and when the owner of the GC's in Palm Desert is ready to start hiring for the busy season. I will have to figure it out by the end of this month, so I have time to give my notice at work here.
