Bikerchic - check in please

I'm not sure where exactly in IA you are - but just saw on the news about a big recreation area in IA that's gone due to a dam collapsing, Hope this doesn't effect you - you've had enough there. Let us know you are ok, please.

Glad you posted this Beth, she has been on my mind too, with all that flooding up there and the Dam breaking.
Hey, Barbie, where exactly is she? Near any of this? Sure would be nice to hear from her.

Just hope you're safe !!!

I don't think it's the same place. In the workcamping area bikerchic says she is at Saylorville Lake.

Linda is safe and dry for now! The dam that broke was across the state, I believe, but it sure got my attention when I first heard about it! Actually, she is at a recreation area just below the dam from Saylorville Lake (we were at a campground on the lake above the dam). The lake is still quite high and they have since had a lot of rain too, so I have been worried too. She said the water has been rising where she is at since she got back there so am waiting to hear from her about how that is going. I just saw that she posted on the Campfire thread and didn't mention anything about it so that must mean she is still OK there. We just got some torrential rains here tonight from a line of storms coming up from Iowa so not sure if that affected her down in Des Moines.
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Don't know what happened to my post on here, but I did let you all know I'm OK  We have actually been rain free for a few days so there is even new grass growing in some of the areas that were flooded! The inflatable bladders on our dam have now failed so we don't have that extra space before the water goes over the dam....Damn! Don't think I don't think about that dam in NE IA and the one in AZ, I think it was. It would be different if I was up at the campgrounds above the lake, but now I'm back down below the dam, next to the Des Moines River. Still lots of water near Myrtle. It's pleasant to look out my window at it. I saw some ducks swimming in it yesterday. Today I saw a beaver swimming in there and a hawk swoop down through there. My biggest concern is the huge trees by me that have been standing in water for who knows how long! Some trees have already fallen across the road and bike trail :o I have been praying, believe me!

Thanks for your concern, girls! It's nice to know someone cares 8-) Love you guys :D

When we camped in the Ozarks there was a CG just down from a dam and no way was I going to stay there. Just too scary!
Glad you checked in and all is well!
