I have had Good Sam ERS for years. If I wasn't happy I would switch, so you know I'm happy. I have also called them out many, many times in all sorts of places and conditions. I have called them to come fix a flat in my own yard probably 3 times over the years on cars as well as RVs. I even called them when my son and I had his car and needed a tow.

We had a blowout coming down Donner Pass (yes, THAT Donner Pass) and the tow guy had to come over 60 miles to help us. That was one time that having a toad was a real necessity - no cell service there! My DH had to drive almost 30 miles to the nearest phone to call ERS!

Another time the rig went totally dead in a parking lot, facing in toward a fence and rig was front wheel drive which would make for intereting towing problems. Of course we checked battery, fuses, wires, connections, etc. before calling ERS. The first guy who came out had a small tow truck and we started getting disgusted because we had specified when we called that we had a motorhome. No way was he going to be able to tow us. Actually, what they did was send someone who might be able to get us started, not tow us. He tried everything he could think of and then called in the bigger gun. Huge tow truck with two mechanics on board. All three guys were like ants crawling in, over, and around. Finally found a hidden ground that was corroded and caused a fuse to almost blow (I say almost because the filiment looked fine). It took them over 2 hrs, but they were 3 of the happiest guys you could find when they got our rig going again! All for the once a year price for membership. Do you know what the going hourly rate for mechanics to work on your rig is?

Moral: GET AN EMERGENCY SERVICE, no matter which one you choose.

I have GS and am more then satisfied with it. I agree totally with Evie, just get one. Everyone has different travel plans and routes they take, so hopefully you'll pick one that really works for you. Just be sure you SEE IN WRITING THAT THEY WILL COVER YOUR RIG, WHATEVER road service IT IS. I took a persons word when I was first on my own. (I've learned alot since then)

A woman traveling alone, actually anyone who travels a lot, should have some ERS service. You call, they tell you who is coming, apporx. time they will be there, most of time the mans name. Which was a good thing, one time in Co. on I-70, where there was nothing, not even an ant crawling on the ground, not much traffice either. Anyway, within the time they said, here came this huge red tow truck, Name in big letters on the side and when the guy got out, he was BIG TOO, and long hair, beard all over his face. Kind of scary, beings I only have Maggie for a guard dog I talked to him through the window, he gave me his name, it was one I expected and then he said no need for me to get out of vehicle, so we agreed on that . He got me to a dealer in closest town and went in got a service guy out there for me and boy I was back on the road in a short time. Big teddy bear of a guy and the best service I had ever had. If I had managed to get into that dealers myself, I might still be waiting my turn

I would not travel without my road service, its like a safety net for me and I have had to use it for r.v and car. Knowing name of tow service, which is on their trucks, and when they will be there, keeps you from being taken advantage of by someone , up to no good. I travel more back roads, scenic routes, so no telling where my troubles might find me, but so far, GS always has.
