Carol you and Karen should meet somewhere in the middle - or Karen come up there - now that she's "on the road". Just a suggestion for another mini gtg :)

Geez louise....I am in Paradise but working for a couple of days. May get off Thursday and come see you in Deming if you are still there. I may have to make a trip to Las Cruces for meds and could have breakfast/lunch/dinner at least 2 of 3. PM me and we will see what we can work out.

Good for you, Karen. Know how you liked the area, but could tell you were tired of dealing with the owners and also seemed ready to move on. You've always told others "your house has wheels" if you don't like where you're at and you took your own advice. Have a relaxing trip back to Texas. carold

Hi Karen, sorry, I am coming into this chapter kinda late, I am not sure where you are? Please fill me in on where you are and what campground you were working at. I have been doing alot of research on the work camping thing and love hearing stories (the good, the bad and the ugly), thanks alot..

And I wish you a safe and stress free journey home!

Sure does sounds as if it's time for you to move on, Karen. You are making a wise decision. After all, work camping is supposed to be sort of fun and defintely profitable----that job and campground sounds as if it's neither!

Stick to your guns and see if you can get those renters out of your house. Maybe you can take your time and find good renters so you would still have some income from the place. I am re-thinking trying to rent my FL house once again, but either get a different rental agency, or keep track of the place by myself, at least in the winters when I will be down there only about a half hour from the place at my son's house.

I am still paying landlord's insurance, so it might work IF I could find a reliable couple rather than college-age boys with motorcycles!

Keep us in touch so we can follow your progress!

So sorry about your bad experience, Karen. Im sure your fam/friends will be glad to have you back in Texas. But brace yourself for the heat and humidity. We have had monsoon rains due to the storms in the gulf, etc..
Are you going back to Guadalupe river rv park where I met ya last year?

Ditto on the safe travels and pet the doggies for me!

cya around the farm!

Laurie asked where I was = Silver City NM KOA. When agreeing to workamp somewhere, get in writing!!! For instance, they didn't tell me they had added two "lodges" complete with kitchens and bathrooms. A LOT more cleaning than I had last year. Also, I don't ask for a salary only my site which everywhere else I've workamped included your site, electric, laundry and propane. Here I had to pay for my propane, at cost, but still. When the owner was showing me what she wanted me to do last year, she showed me an old toothbrush for "cleaning the corners of the showers". Yeah, right! I just nodded and smiled. To say she's anal is putting mildly. She drove me nuts coming along behind me constantly checking what you were doing. She will take an hour to do something that could be done well and thoroughly in a half an hour.

Anyway, in spite ot the heat/humidity back home, I'm really glad to be leaving early. I'm just getting too old and cranky for this BS.

Karen, thanks for getting me on the same page as you guys. I am sure, just like in any business, there are wonderful experiences and the ones you have to stay clear of. Take care, Laurie
